I would mention that you have more energy eating this way.
Can’t argue with that! I know I FEEL so much better when I make better food choices. On other days when I eat too much sugar, for example, I feel tired and can’t keep up activity all day. |

Just ignore them.
I'm not on a diet or trying to lose weight but I have never bought into this idea that vacations are meant for gluttony. Gluttony is not enjoyable. I would much rather eat something and not feel like I'm going to explode or need a nap afterwards. I also do not like eating big meals. I'm happy with coffee for breakfast or maybe avocado toast but nothing greasy or heavy. I love salads or sandwiches for lunch and for dinner I usually order something light. I'll eat dessert occasionally but if its too rich I won't want to finish it. I do enjoy wine and cheese! My extended family is large enough that there is usually someone else who isn't stuffing themselves but if we end up with just gluttonous relatives then its a PITA. These are the types that go on cruises for the all you can eat buffets. I just ignore them when they make a big deal that I'm not eating enough. |
| Just tell them that you've lost xx lbs. When they ask what you did to lose it, go on a bit about how dieting just doesn't work and you gave it up. You'll get lots of knowing nods and "yaaasss girl". Then say what worked is full on anorexia. They will laugh, and understand that weight loss requires drastic changes, and that you're not actually anorexic. |
| Op it seems weird that the title of your thread says you are concerned about looking like you have an eating disorder if in fact you just mean you’re watching what you eat to try to lose weight. That is so common and unremarkable. If your family or friends are really going to freak out about that then maybe they have the eating problem, not you. |
