BRYC Girls TD Larry Best leaving for Washington Spirit
Mikey is not leaving BRYC. With him being in charge of ECNL and coaching three teams, coupled with his Dad running the boys side, he 's unaccountable to anyone (and given his personality, that's important). The question is how long before he and Daddy decide to associate with Hibernian FC and change the name from BRYC to the Welsh Soccer Club.
And you know all of this information? Are you friends with Mikey and know what he wants to do with his life?

Sound like a Psychopath

Getting back to the issues at hand...if someone in the administration at WS is reading this...you have a lot of upset parents wondering what is going to happen next at the DA. A little communication from the higher-ups would go a long way at this point!!

Perhaps this would be more effective...

Email Larry Best directly.

I emailed Larry this afternoon about the future of Spirit VA. No response yet but I’m sure he’s busy settling into a new job. I’ll post on here any response I get but do think that it would be got if other Spirit VA parents also emailed him

Why would parents be “upset” with no actual news? No reason to be upset. Either nothing will change or if it does, it will be announced early enough so you can explore other options. It’s not like this area has a shortage of other options in the unlikely event a pro club that is wanted by US Soccer to host DA decides not to continue.

Deep breaths, it will be ok.

The concern is that if the VA DA is eliminated that the news will not be provided within a timely fashion.

My understanding is that if this were to happen, we’ll know in the next few weeks. Plenty of time. Why would they screw all of the families? Spirit is a great club and there’s no reason to think they would do that.

If they are killing the VA DA I see no real motivation for them to tell families sooner than later. Players would decline going to the showcases, players would start leaving early, it would be chaos and for what, to tick off a few families who you were cutting loose anyway?

1. There’s nowhere to go at this point for those players, who presumably have paid their dues and still want to be showcased
2. If Spirit were truly pulling out, there’s no long term need to show for those anyway.

They will not do what you suggest. Perhaps some other clubs in the area would. No need to project.

Nah, it would be like rats on a sinking ship. The better players will seek out their parachute much earlier and get their options lined up. Those lucky enough to land a spot early elsewhere will likely begin practicing with the new team as often as possible. Then the apathy really begins to set in, both with coaches and players.

If you tell parents/players to soon you have set up a terrible lame duck season for all. If you tell them to late they may miss out on DA/ECNL opportunities as they felt conflicted about trying out elsewhere and were strung along. I'm sure there will be many kids who will work, train and play hard till the end but the cost of showcasing when every player has one foot out of the door is a bad spot to be in. It would be best to get your offer early and guest with the new team at a showcase rather than showcase on team that will be dissolved.

DA rules don’t allow what you suggest. I get that you are looking at this from of a traditional, if unethical, point of view.

You are getting way ahead of yourself over a rumor.

What DA rule prevents a player joining a ECNL club?

What DA that is being dissolved would tell a player that they cannot leave for another team? Both teams and US Soccer can allow a player to leave one DA for another during the season, the only sanction is the player cannot play against the team they left that season.

Chill out buddy, you’re getting all worked up over nothing. We get that you are the Spirit hating poster in this forum. It will be a happy day when they announce that this isn’t happening so you can shrink back into your rathole.
