Cherry Blossom is a Tournament run by MSI for MSI teams, and maybe a few other travel teams Only the U13 ECNL GIRLS are doing it, not the boys. No one from Braddock has explained why an ECNL team would play in that. Has nothing to do with getting some easy win, must be some other reason. |
This is why a youth soccer club in this area will never satisfy parents... Crazies like this one. Also why nothing on this forum can be taken seriously. |
Not from the DC area, so I have no dog in this fight. That said, my daughter is a 2007 pre-ECNL player at a very strong club in the northeast. Our team has kids from other clubs coming in to practice with the team already. This will continue throughout the spring. In a competitive club, this is extremely common. Our club pulls ECNL players from the club's various regions and there are 12 total 2007 girls teams just within the club--that doesn't include outside players who will try out. If two players are equal, you may see loyalty to the player that has been with the club, but if a kid from outside is better, they will get the spot. That's how it is supposed to be. |
+1 Thanks for sharing |
But are your club coaches going out recruiting or just the natural process of players giving a stronger club a try and see if they are good enough. That is perfectly fine but BRYC is known for going out of their way with coaches actively trying to bring others from outside. |
I'm honestly not sure. But I know that our club's reputation drives strong interest from players outside of the club each year. I don't think the coaches are at games chatting up the parents of an opposing player on the sideline, but I guess you never know. I also think that we have far fewer options for DA/ECNL in New England than there are in the DC area (3 GDA and 4 ECNL clubs across all 6 new england states--I'm being specific to the girls' side of things here). That means there are just more kids competing for fewer spots those specific teams. |
Boohoo... |
Let BRYC recruit! But don’t think for a second that DCU, Arlington, or LMVSC 1st team players will go there
|
And, at the moment, competition in ECNL is NOT a positive for BRYC. More the opposite. |
Spoken like a true parent who derives their value and stature based on the team their kid plays on... |
Are they going to wait until the last minute to announce players getting dropped ? If my kid is getting dropped that is fine but I want time to look for another team. |
Or coach/recruiter |

| As an outsider without a dog in the fight. I had a chance to see the 07 BRYC pre ECNL team today. I thought the team wasn't terrible. They were very average for a u12 team. no players stood out as head and shoulders above anyone else. I think the coaching was very subpar. So after reading this thread for the past few days. I would agree this team needs a ton of work if they are to compete in the ECNL next fall. |
| ^ I saw then too. They looked great. No issues you mentioned. |
