Tell Reston 20/20 not to fight to limit density in Reston. Tell the FFX Bos not to give in to NIMBYs. |
No, they nominated him. General election is in November. |
How do I put this gently? Grow the eff up. You behaving as a petulent child does not make your life better. It’s a very straight forward concept. Sometimes grown adults have to make sacrifices. If you refuse to move, and insist on acting like that is everyone/anyone else’s problem, it only comes back on you. Clearly you are feeling said inevitable repercussions. What you are doing simply is not working. Ask mommy and daddy for a down payment and bite the bullet. Not everyone who lives in Virginia subscribed to the local politics, but they make it work. Such as now. |
What are you babbling about? If people in Fairfax seriously want fewer people commuting from Maryland, they need to both stop subsidizing employers to move to Va, and examine all policies that limit growth close to employment centers in Fairfax. That is straightforward, and the sacrifices Fairfax will need to make. What Fairfax is doing appears to not be working. Oh, and ask mommy and daddy (the commonwealth, and the FTA) to being looking seriously at Purple Line extension from Bethesda to Tysons, ASAP. |
Are there people in Fairfax who don't themselves drive everywhere and can thus with a straight face tell other people to not drive everywhere? I don't have a dog in this fight but the hypocrisy and NIMBYism here is sort of stunning. |
Do you any other retorts? I know have tunnel vision, but really, so sad. |
Listen to yourself. Wow. |
I agree. My kid’s school provided busses |
SHHHH....don't tell the Marylanders.

Hi neighbor! I live off Balls Hill, and it has taken me over 30 minutes to get out before--thanks to the backed up MD cars. I've also been hit at the intersection of Balls Hill/G-Town Pike TWICE by someone who seems to think a left turn on green towards the beltway is a right-of-way over a straight through the green light. Waze is half the problem. Have you been writing to Foust and others? John.Foust@fairfaxcounty.gov Susan.Falconer@mail.house.gov Jane.Edmondson@fairfaxcounty.gov district31@senate.virginia.gov FWIW, I think this is a completely lame brained idea. Plenty of people who live in the area need to access 495 during those hours. They should consider red light cameras, widening the road leading to the intersection, concrete blocking for traffic flow on the right turn lane to Balls Hill, etc. |
You clearly have no need to be in Maryland between 1-7. Others do. It will just create the same backlogs elsewhere. I don't understand why they don't try other, more sane measures first. |
Just like the people who are affected in Virginia don't understand why the Marylanders involved don't drive in a sane manner. |
You mean driving like slowpokes? Or brake to change lane? No, thank you. |
That's really off-topic. If you had any idea of what the traffic on Georgetown Pike/495N on ramp is like M-F afternoon, you would know that's a nonsensical statement. Nobody is going any faster than walking speed within 750 yards of the on ramp. |
| I’m agnostic about this. Closing that ramp will just divert Maryland-bound traffic to other parts of McLean and Arlington. But quite honestly I don’t need to go to Maryland from 1-7 or at any other time, and do wish there were fewer Marylanders with their poor driving habits in NoVa generally. |
