How will Wootton or RM be affected by new high school in Crown Farm?

Why would you add RP? There are other ESs in the cluster that are closer - Beall and CG.

As for Wootton cluster, Lakewood ES is much closer to Crown than Fallsmead. I don't think you are very familiar with the surrounding area.

Fallsgrove is part of Ritchie Park which is the neighborhood closest from RM.

But you didn't state just FG. You stated RP, as if all of RP would go to Crown.

It seems like some here are assuming there is going to be a rezoning of ES's in RM. I don't see that happening. It was hard enough for them to rezone RM to fit the 5th ES in, they aren't going to do that again unless they build new ES's nearby. They're just going to take ES's from the surrounding clusters.

Because RM is one of the schools listed in the CIP as being overcrowded, and the solution for the overcrowding is the opening of Crown HS. They are not planning an addition at RM anymore; that money is going toward the new high school.

And by the time Crown could open, RM will be about 400 students overcapacity: http://gis.mcpsmd.org/cipmasterpdfs/MP19_Chap4_RM.pdf

Most of Beall is walkzone to RM. it will likely be either Collge Gardens or Ritchie Park.

I think you mean just Fallsgrove and not all of RP. Please try to remember that RP is made up of more than just Fallsgrove.

Why would they include elementary schools from Gaithersburg, Quince Orchard, and Wootton in the rezoning, but not elementary schools from Richard Montgomery?

I wonder what would happen to the whole IB curriculum at College Gardens in the event it got moved to the new Crown HS.

Good question. If it's removed, the PTA could fund it.

Woodley Gardens families might be quite happy they were moved to Beall after all is said and done.

IB PYP at CG is being moved to ES#5 this fall.

Twinbrook was overcrowded and after they rezoned for the 5th elementary school at RM, they didn't change the areas that went to Twinbrook at all. It's been left overcrowded.

I never said that they wouldn't take any away from RM. In fact I explicitly said that they WOULD. I said they would not REZONE again. That is different that REDISTRICT.

What? I thought they were letting more kids stay at CGES than the other schools because they started IB there? I thought it was CI that was going to the new school???

?

Moving a neighborhood from one elementary school to another is rezoning. Moving an elementary school from one high school cluster to another is also rezoning.

I heard some requests to add it to #5 but they are not taking it out of CG. I t would be in addition and I don't know if it happened.

Rather than argue semantics of what MCPS calls various things, let me see if I understand this. Are you saying you think they'll take all of CG or only part of it? I have seen some suggest that they would only take part of CG which I do not think is true. They already reduced enrollment by moving WG (CG3) to Beall. If they move CG4 and CG5 to another ES then CG will be woefully under enrolled. Are you saying that they'll break the school up and make part of it attend a different MS and HS than the rest of the ES? Right now every kid that goes to any of the 5 ES's in the RM cluster goes to RM. I don't see that changing.

They could take all of CG, or they could take only part of it. Nobody knows, and nobody is going to know until about 18 months before Crown HS opens.

I think it's going to be all of CG. There will be too much apartment growth in the town center over the next decade. Beall enrollment will continue to rise.
