Side question for SC fans in our area. Is there a particular studio that has especially tough classes? If I'm paying this much, I definitely want to work. Any opinions on this? |
Honestly it depends more on the instructor than the studio. |
Woah. They're no longer offering 20 and 40 class packs in DC? That's really lame. |
Ryan is my go-to. He is easily the most intense coach of the bunch but also a nice person. He gets how to push me and for that, I will pay (damn it). But he sets a high bar. Mostly at BSDA and sometimes WW. |
The pricing situation does leave a bad taste in my mouth. Though I also recognize that a large number of people attending these classes in DC are price-insensitive. I see them fancy handbags, ladies.
The pricing change impacts the dedicated price-sensitive frequent fliers the most. I bet that they won't sell as many of those new $$ monthly packages as they did the set class packages. I'm also disappointed that there seems to be this large emphasis on expansion. When you go to the website, the main message is all about expansion and... this feels out of touch to me? I personally don't give a sh*t if they're opening a place in Minnesota, Baltimore, or Indiana. I would much prefer that they remain focused on what they already have by getting the best instructors (paying them well!), maintaining the studios AND not bumping up the rates so darn much in a disingenuous way. |
Anyone know if they have plans to open in NYC, or are the barriers to entry too high? Y'all sound pretty enthusiastic about this--I'd like to try it! |
Natalie, OT. She’s insanely good, and super cool. |
Thanks! |
Can anyone compare sculpt studio w/ [solidcore]? |
Really bummed about the increase in pricing, but we also pretty bummed when the Navy Yard location started getting rid of its late evening classes. Sometimes a 7pm class is just too difficult to get to after work.
Apparently there's a Lagree Method studio opening on H St NE. I'm hopeful they will have more realistic pricing and will value repeat customers. |
You're welcome. I realize you asked about specific studios, but I echo PP in that it's really more about the specific instructors. Some of that is fit (how well you click with them) and some of that is certain ones just design tougher sequences than others and are better at holding people accountable during classes. Part of what I love about Ryan is that his version of that is positive and enthusiastic. You can hold people accountable and not be a jerk. And again, for those of you with specific complaints, please let the company know. solidcore@solidcore.co I'm glad they may be getting some competition from a Lagree studio in Atlas District. Good. Maybe that will help them rethink a bit. As for PP who asked about NYC: they have a studio on Long Island. SLT, which is Lagree, is big in NYC. Personally, I find solidcore to be a better (harder) product, but YMMV. |
Has anyone that sent an email received a response yet? |
No, and that doesn't bother me (yet). In my dream world, they're getting inundated with complaints and taking the time to decide on a thoughtful response and course of action. I don't expect them to respond to each individual message and I would rather not receive a boilerplate "thank you for your feedback" response. I have enough classes left in my discounted 40 pack to get me through May. So, I'm going to use that up and then decide where to go from there, which allows time for them to respond. We'll see. |
What am I missing? I'm pissed there's no off-peak package anymore, but I used to pay $248 for an 8-pack monthly and now it's $225. Right? |
The cheapest price went up ~10%, there are no 20 or 40 packages any more (and no sales, which they used to run quarterly), and the monthly unlimited price jumped 33%. So, I guess if you always do 8 classes per month, you save a bit. But those of us who want to go more often and/or want more flexibility are screwed. |
