By what metric. If they have 11/20 top SATs, and FCPS has AAP, by what metric do they not compete? |
|
This list doesn’t compare apples to apples.
In some jurisdictions (DCPS) every student must take the SAT at the city's expense and all the students’ scores are reflected in the averages above. In others students self select so kids who aren’t headed to college are not included (PWCS). |
Our school is one of the ones in the top 20 fro the original list (no exburbs like Howard County). Close to every student takes the SATs. Many also take the ACT. This is the case for every high performing school in fcps. Most of the kids are college bound. At some schools, almost all of the kids are college bound and take the SAT. |
And other schools have students who aren’t college bound. Or are still learning English. Every time these lists come out, it just reflects SES. |
That’s just an insecure MD poster reacting to MD having a disproportionate number of the local schools below the national average. |
Yes because they have a huge low SES population compared to all of the surrounding areas, and many of the very wealthy ones in NWDC probably send their kids to private schools. Similar in MCPS. Basically, if you switch out the low SES students in DCPS with the high SES students in either FCPS or MCPS, you would see the scores the other way around. Test scores are pretty much a reflection of SES. If you want to compare apples to apples, you need to compare schools with similar low SES/ESOL rates. |
DP.. you really need to look at the low income population. It's also not fair to compare TJ to any other HS in FCPS for the obvious reasons. |
Academic achievements, academic competitions. ..real competitions not on paper. When was the last time a NoVa school won anything besides TJ? |
Insecure? MD schools are better than VA schools. AAP is light compare to HGC. Below average schools in MD can and have beaten the bests VA has to offer. VA schools are only good on paper. Great on paper but nothing to show for it on the field. |
Excuses, excuses. Low expectations lead to poor performance. |
It’s the College Park loser boy! Taking time out from his busy schedule of bashing UVA, Duke, and the rest of the ACC and Big Ten... |
Ha,ha,ha nope. Try again |
How many of these 11 top SAT schools have won the "it's academics " competition? |
Everything I wrote is 100% true. Find me a study that shows that SAT scores are NOT tied to SES. |
| One thing about TJ scores is that the school skims off the FCPS students that can memorize and regurgitate well on tests. If TJ didn't draw these students off, their scores would be spread among other FCPS schools. |
