I assume his point is that MCPS might account for more than 7 of the top 25 if MCPS didn't lose as many kids to area privates.

Why not Howard and Frederick ?

Howard is technically part of the Baltimore MSA, not DC. Frederick could be included, but then wouldn't you also want Faquier and Charles Counties in VA? And Jefferson in WV is also part of the DC MSA....or maybe include Anne Arundel because some smart kids live there.

Howard which is closer to DC than Loudoun or Prince William has 6 high schools that would make the top 25 . Frederick has 1.

Easiest data to pull is FARMS off DCPS profiles and MD/VA Department of Education data on free and reduced meal recipients (for 2016-17 school year).

True. Leesburg is 43 miles from DC

Columbia is 23 miles from DC

Howard is much more relevant .

Frederick city is the same distance from DC as leesburg.

OTOH there are 46 in the updated list with scores below the US average. Of the 46, 4 are from Virginia (1 from ACPS, 1 from FCPS, and 2 from PWCPS), 28 are from Maryland (7 from MCPS and 21 from PGCPS), and 14 are from DCPS.
