That's 2010-11 data. 2017-18 data is 35.1% FARMS.

I think another interesting comparison point would be ESOL rates. MCPS is 14.2%, and I know that the high schools have sizeable ESOL populations - including many students in families supporting the embassies in DC. Good educational backgrounds but still learning English. Wonder how that plays into the SAT scores.

DCPS is 11% ELL (aka ESOL) and 15% special needs students. 80% are economically disadvantaged.

You can fit them in.

Howard county is never considered part of the DC metro area.

I added the scores anyway, as someone wanted them added and there are obviously commuters to the DC area from places like Columbia. Also, doing so resulted in having three big counties from each of VA (FCPS, LCPS, and PWCPS) and MD (HCPS, MCPS, PGCPS), in addition to DCPS and the smaller school systems in NoVa (ACPS, APS, and FCCPS).

But I added the College Board scores as reported by HCPS to its School Board this fall, not the numbers above, which appear to have been rounded up substantially in most instances.

But if you are adding Howard County and Frederic County then Stafford County should be added along with all of the outlying VA counties that are also not part of the dc metro area.

The coutie included should be the ones serviced by the metro system, plus any areas included in the National Capital region BAH pay.

Howard County is not.part of DC metro, even if a handful of people commute from there.

I added Howard, but not Frederick. I would only add Frederick if also adding Stafford.

Anyway, it's just a list on DCUM.

I added Howard, but not Frederick. I'd only add Frederick if I had the time and was also adding Stafford, assuming there is decent data for both jurisdictions.

Google shows Columbia MD and Leesburg VA as 34 and 36 miles to the White House, respectively.

Leesburg to DC 56 minutes 36 miles

Columbia to DC 36 minutes, 24 miles

Howard is more relevant to the DMV than Loudoun and has the best school system from Massachusetts to key west.

Howard does not have a magnet high school taking out 400 students from the other high schools in the county. I also don't think there are too many private high schools in Howard.

Howard privates go to good counsel , McDonough and Gilman. Close and excellent.

FCPS does not surprise me at all. TJ admits are concentrated in certain parts of the county (RRMS, Carson, Longfellow as feeders). Other parts of the county send very few kids. Without TJ, Westfield, Chantilly, SLHS, Oakton, McLean, Langley and Woodson each have 40-50 more kids scoring at or near NMSF level/ around 1500– 200 or more points higher than the mean of the schools currently. If you have 500 kids take the SAT per class, that’s a huge bump.

My. Vernon has a terrible rep in FCPS. I’m shocked how many schools scored below it.

DC FARMS > MCPS FARMs > FCPS FARMS

MCPS ESOL > FCPS FARMS > DCPS FARMS

TJ = whole school test in magnet.. the only one in the area, and skews the scores.

Indeed, you can play this game all day.

And even with their high SAT scores, NoVa schools cannot compete academically, except TJ.
