I want to date a firefighter or cop

One tiny detail, she was identified from DNA but fire didn't kill her. A bullet did.

Do not date or marry a cop, firefighter. They ALL cheat. They are ALL mean. They will kill you before they share their pension.

This is the most ridiculous post in the entire thread. You've contributed nothing but one giant sweeping generalization.

Like ANY profession, there are jerks. Absolutely true. I know plenty of doctors, lawyers, financiers, etc., who are alcoholics or who cheat or hit their wives. Really I socioeconomic class or profession is immune.

I also know a ton of cops who do their job with integrity and are always willing to go the extra mile to help someone (mine included!). I know a ton of cops who have never had a use of force complaint filed against them. I know a ton who are wonderful husbands and fathers. And I work in a profession that intertwines with the police so I am around hundreds of cops and see them in their off hours, their coming and going, and overhear their conversations.

I love my policeman. He's strong and sexy and also caring and funny. You can find these qualities in a lot of professions, though, just like you can find bad men, too.

And yes--it's definitely a life you have to be prepared for. He frequently has to stay late because he got a call as his shift was ending. His shifts have been very odd hours over the years. He can't make holidays sometimes and or vacations are always planned around his schedule. But it's okay, I've never had a problem with it. Some women would be very resentful.

You know that call when his shift was ending? It was from the woman he pulled over warier in the day just because she was sexy and he had to tell her so. She called to tell him she was waiting naked in her bed. Duty calls.

You are correct that there are exceptions but I wouldn't play those odds.

LOL...nice try, but we have a scanner radio at home so I often confirm this myself. Whatever makes you feel better about your own miserable life though!

Guy here. Sorry, but saying you want to date a fireman or cop identifies you as a bimbo as effectively as sporting a tramp stamp tattoo. It's like a guy saying he wants to date a cheerleader or fight attendant. Lame on both accounts.

Because they are kind.

Cops have to have a college degree in most places. What are you talking about?

They looked good from afar and I was attracted, then met them and couldn't get past certain things. Of course there are exceptions, but the guys I encountered weren't compatible even for a romp in the hay. Overconfident, couldn't carry on a conversation, seemed controlling, overconservative, etc.

Thanks, I appreciate your thoughts! I think this comes from feeling very vulnerable and wanting a strong man to protect me and make it all right. It sounds naïve, I know ...

NP here. I'll never understand women like you. Men hurt you and make you feel vulnerable, so your solution is to search for yet another man, who seems stronger, to protect you?

The only antidote to feeling vulnerable is to toughen up yourself, build your own strength and confidence and don't look to a man to protect you, especially when those men who seem chivalrous in my experience are the most controlling and potentially abusive.

You are absolutely right. Which is why I have not dated at all. I am working on me to become strong. My original post was triggered by my divorce being final and the judge and my XDH making me feel like shit and I defaulted back to the old me.

Some need 2 years, not most.

Undereducated does not mean not smart.

DO NOT DO THIS. They cheat with their low class staff.

Who are the "low class staff"? The dental hygienists?

DCUM is so ridiculous.

Here is a different perspective. I am a teacher and I am making a generalization here. Ironically, most kids of cops and firefighters are behavior problems. In my experience when I need to talk with them about academic performance or behavior they are non responsive. Almost all are divorced. The dads are a bit lecherous during conferences.

Btw, I really do respect what they do. It is a tough job. That probably explains the conflict thet have in their home lives.

Ask yourself if you really want somebody with a job that makes you lose sleep over whether or not they're coming home.

Lecherous? Just like everyone else, I had to look it up. Are you saying that the fathers wanted to have sexual relations with you? Are you attractive?

So true. A guy can have 6 degrees and be missing the other types of intelligence. No thanks. Street smarts and emotional intelligence, way more important. My husband can read a room in 2 seconds, and people love being around him. No degree
