Not possible. We are fully into the territory of illegal activity, so the FBI would be obligated to act regardless of what Trump or the GOP wanted.

It now involves Trump's own son, so Trump can't make him fall on his sword. And it involves Manafort, so they can't claim ignorance. The remaining defenses are the kind you would use in court. Very bad.

He just retweeted a Fox News report that Comey may have leaked classified information, i.e. the contents of the meeting. Not sure whether that is even true. But if it is, it inadvertently confirms the story. Otherwise he should have claimed "fake news", or "unnamed sources".

The worst part is that this claim would not help him in a court of law. the evidence is no more or less admissible even if the Fox News allegations are true. Also, it won't be clear to the public why this deserves classification. The only apparent purpose it serves is to shield the President from scrutiny that he has earned. The reports have not revealed sources and methods, and there appears to be no impact ongoing intelligence activity, other than the Trump investigation itself.

The hands of justice for Trump are in with the Congress. If the Congress doesn't act, then everyone can get pardoned and our country is screwed.

So this means that the Trump campaign was, in fact, colluding with the Russian government, right? Don Jr. joined this meeting thinking he could get dirt on Clinton - didn't work out that way - but both of his statements confirm that he and others joined that meeting thinking that's what they'd get from this lawyer.

The only evidence that it "didn't work out that way" is Uday's word for it. If it had worked out, I doubt he would tell us. In my opinion, whether or not it worked out that way remains to be seen.

Second, not getting the expected goods is not a defense in all those stings against terrorists and drug dealers. So I doubt it would work here.

*During election, met with Russians in attempt to get dirt on Clinton. Discussed sanctions related issues.

*May or may not have received dirt on Clinton.

*Russians did dump dirt on Clinton during election.

*After election, Trump cabinet member met to discuss sanctions, administration denied it. Later proven true.

*Trump fired the man investigating. Original excuse turned out to be fake. He later disclosed the reason in an interview.

*After firing investigator, Trump meets in Oval Office with Russia, tells them the cloud is lifted. Russian media present, but US media is not.

*Trump meets with Putin, now denies knowing the Russians meddled in the election, suggests cooperating on cybersecurity. Says the country needs to move on from the election story.
