If someone wanted to change TJ's name, the might have brought it up before the enormous remodel of the school with the dome/ Montacello replica. Just saying. TJ is not a name change. It would be another remodel.

Two other things: TJ kids all take AP history. They have a handle on the good and bad aspects of Jefferson. And TJ's mission statement is about how Jefferson was a rennaissance man, and he was ahead of his time in science in math. But, he also contributed in the humanities, and TJ kids are expected to not get a STEM education at the expense of the humanities. As a results, TJ kids must take 3 years of a foreign language, AP English, and at least 1 AP history (almost all take 2 or more), in addition to a heavy STEm load. So, Thomas Jefferson isn't just a name of TJ. It's an educational philosophy.

Good thing FCPS never built a replica of Munson Hill at Stuart HS - will make it that much easier to change that school's inappropriate name.

It did work. My parents looked for a house for over a year in the early 1980s with a saint of a real estate agent to find a neighborhood we would feel accepted. We're not black, but brown and still fought a lot of prejudice at the time- people would leave the pool when we got in and things like that. I'm shocked that someone could be so callous, clueless and rude as the PP.
