How so? |
| We need to change the white house to the gender neural house |
I don't think there is any evidence that is true. It is a myth created by those wanting the name change. |
|
Can we strip off the names of aborters?
Can't wait !! |
Especially elementary schools. Young children are frightened by the act of killing babies. |
| I agree. Everyone has faults. Can we not honor people for the good they did while still realizing they were not angels. |
| We elected a pussy grabber. Bad behavior no longer precludes people from being admired and honored in this nation. |
| Have some damn common sense. When the schools are struggling every year for pay raises for teachers and the buildings to teach in a crumpling, who gives a crap about the school names. Changing a name will not change history. Just focus on learning and name the new schools with numbers. So many damn PC crap. It happened. You were not personally persecuted. Move on. I'm a minority by the way. My school where I came from was a dirt floor huts. Find a new cause that is productive and make sense. |
| We gotta change Washington state and DC to Freedom state And Freedom DC. Is Columbus ok? He started this whole mess. |
| Virginia needs to go. The Queen supported slave trade. Or some people could develop self esteem. |
|
How long have we had to look at Andrew Jackson's face on $20 bills? No one has ever even thought twice about how many native Americans died because of his Indian Removal Act (and it was in the thousands, and many were my relatives as I'm 1/4 Cherokee). We can't change history by obliterating names and images. They stand as reminders of what should never happen again.

Woodson/Stuart/Lee were named in the aftermath of Brown v Board, while FCPS was in the process of doing everything in it's power to stop integration. Lead by Woodson the superintendent. I guess you can argue coincidence, but it is a huge one, given the politics in FCPS in the late 50s/ early 60s. Most who were people around at the time believe these school names were part of the campaign against integration. https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/education/bearing-name-of-confederate-general-fairfax-school-might-seek-a-change/2015/07/16/54d96ff2-2b2b-11e5-bd33-395c05608059_story.html?utm_term=.e9349fbd9df8 |
To be fair, a lot of our former presidents were horrible womanizers. But this one was caught on tape saying it out loud AND saying he is entitled to do so. Then he didn't even bother apologizing. Nothing matters anymore. I give up. |
Hmm. The same School Board member who moved to change the name of what had been called "Munson Hill HS" in FCPS planning documents for years to "JEB Stuart HS" in 1958 was on the record as against integration, after the Brown decision came out. He also had changed the name of a School Board committee called the "Committee on Desegregation" to the "Segregation Committee" to appease opponents of integration. At a minimum, the names were picked by a group of white men who opposed integration and gave no thought as to whether the name would be offensive to minority and other students who would eventually attend the school. Notably, even though the Brown decision came out in 1954, the federal courts were still ordering Fairfax County a decade later to move more quickly to integrate FCPS. Time to repudiate this hateful legacy and come up with a better name for the school. |
And a rapist was elected twice in the '90s. |
