The first I heard about this was an email from the PTA which started.."As you have already heard..." |
If you have bright kid then there is almost ZERO chance that your child will end up at Richard Montgomery or Rockville High anyway. Both cluster feed into Takoma Middle and Eastern Middle and then To Blair. Most top kids end up there. If your child will not make it into that group, you have bazillion of magnet options that are just amazing. Most parents are mostly concerned about great elementary as this is the deciding factor. |

You are funny. The IB program at RM is a high school magnet. In addition, they offer great AP classes that many very bright kids attend. Your ignorance is astounding! |

Who got email about this from MCPS or local school?
Did everybody got an email? Do you have to be in Richard Montgomery cluster to get one or did you get one regardless of cluster? Does your child need to be in the HS affected or any child from the cluster would get it? We are in different cluster and not HS kids. Did not get anything so far, it is 2:30 PM Friday. |

Where can I find this information on MCPS site? There surely MUST be a page
with news this kind on their page right? I tried to look and nothing. Was it the same before with RH? Nothing? |

There is something, a small link on the side:

Agreed that poster has no idea what she is talking about...but did make me chuckle. |

"The safety of our students is paramount. In 2015, the Montgomery County Board of Education updated its policy regarding child abuse and neglect. Central to the updated policy are new practices, procedures and protocols to ensure students have a safe environment in which to learn."

Like what? I was reading an article about how a private shool in CA had similar issues. This issue exists in almost every school district. http://abcnews.go.com/US/passing-trash-women-teachers-sexually-abused-allowed-continue/story?id=46626326 "“Passing the trash” occurs when a teacher accused of sexual misconduct is allowed to leave a school – through a confidentiality or separation agreement - and quietly seek employment at another school without the new employer being alerted to the allegations, ... Only five states -- Washington, Oregon, Missouri, Pennsylvania and Connecticut -- have laws banning passing the trash..." |
Yes. Unfortunately. It has been case after case the past few years. We live in Silver Spring and there was an MCPS bus driver sexually abusing young girls. There appears to be zero accountability when these things happen and it appears to continue. |
What is your point? It happened at a private school in CA so parents should accept that it is happening here in MCPS? No thanks. |

Thank you for this very important update, OP. Everyone needs to read the comments after the article. You will be shocked even more. |
