lol... a top STEM magnet program in MoCo, where the kids out perform TJ kids.

So, 400 STEM magnet students subsumed within a chaotic 2,900-student school located at the eastern edge of Silver Spring, halfway between Wheaton and Langley Park, as opposed to a thriving and recently renovated STEM-only magnet with nearly 1800 students that is consistently ranked the nation's top high school.

You can kind of see why the Blair poster is so insecure.

PP here.. my kids don't even go to Blair. I wish they could get in. But they sure do beat TJ kids in many areas. I'm sure if I lived in NoVa, I'd be happy if my kids got into TJ, too. However, I don't want to live in VA.

Both regions are close to DC. I guess the effect of DC on both regions are pretty much the same. I heard of many bad things about Moco, such as increasing property tax rate, sanctuary city controversy, weakening public education system, etc. I also hear good things about north Virginia, like good education qulity, etc. Then why are there more houses on market in north VA, and cheaper? Does this meaning that people are leaving VA. And more people are move in MoCo?

This may be the most ridiculous thing I have seen on DCUM today.

If living around sanctuary cities is a problem for you, OP, then by all means, save your money and move to NoVa.

Yup, MoCO giving sanctuary to Henry Sanchez, so he would rape his 14 year old classmate...multiple times in a school bathroom. I bet she would not be raped if she lived in Virginia.

Because VA doesn't have illegal immigrant HSers?

wasn't there a case a few years ago of a little girl being raped by 2 ffx county high schoolers who pulled her out of her bedroom and stabbed her in the liver and her mom woke up to a bloody four year old dying on her stairs? that case still haunts me and i check n my kids all the time at night even though we live in a n apartment in DC.

The main difference between VA & MD is that in VA they have streets named for Robert E Lee and Jefferson Davis- both treasonous traitors to the United States of America and that immigrants who move there are less assimilated to american values and are basically here as a form of reverse colonization as opposed to immigrants to MD who quickly learn to love the USA and assimilate quickly and adopt values such as racial and sexual equality. I'm not even exaggerating- if you want your kids to remain with in gender norms, be traditional, go to your house of worship, marry within your own group- VA society will help you- if you are a liberal rainbow type, MD is a better fit for you.

Generally, NoVa is considered shorthand for Northern Virginia, not north Virginia. I hear people say northern Virginia all the time, I've never heard anyone say north Virginia.

What? AFAICT immigrants in both areas assimilate at comparable paces, in comparable ways.

NoVa and MoCo are pretty similar on all those value issues, MoCo maybe being a tad more liberals. There are definitely same sex couples in NoVa, though not a pocket as heavily gay as I guess Takoma Park is.

It is true that there are streets in NoVa named for Lee and Davis. Well actually only Rte 1 is named for Davis (there was Old Jeff Davis highway in Arlington, but the County renamed it Long Bridge Drive, and since it was not a state controlled route, they could do that). Lee is much more pervasive. Note Maryland has a town named for racist Chief Justice Taney, of the Dredd Scott decision.

NoVA is the HQ for the NRA and has gun stores next to ES and daycare. VA is for gun lovers.

MOCO is also bigger and more diverse than Fairfax county

Montgomery County is smaller than Fairfax County. And the school system is smaller as well.
