Metrobus at one point said they'd be operating on a severe snow schedule. The two bus lines that serve my school would not be operational. They did upgrade it and now one is on a modified schedule. The other is still not in service. |

It's a no-win for school officials and this one wasn't an easy call. It looked and sounded much worse at 5-6 am that it actually is (I walked 1 mile to the Metro from my house and am now in my office downtown). |
The thing is, not much learning will take place today. A lot of teachers can't make it in, a lot of kids won't be there, and it'll basically be a holding pen until school dismisses. It's just a lost day, essentially. |
| I work in a Title 1 DCPS. 70% of the teachers are fine. We have a total of 50 kids here today. 50 kids for an entire PS-8 campus. Tell me again how the kids need somewhere to go on days like this. |
| ^^that should say 70% of the teachers called out. (Stupid phone) |
| And WMATA website still advises moderate snow service plan, which impacts overv50%of snow routes....ours is detoured, where would my kid find the alternate bus stop? |
|
If the concern is food, why not just open for meals?

My thoughts as well; at one rec center in every Ward. I felt bad sending my kids today, but they have perfect attendance. |
THIS is the crux of the issue. The powers that be know this. It's hard to understand. |
| Meanwhile, the City Council is closed... |
It takes people over 2 hours to walk to a bus route that is operational? Of course not. |
That is what ACPS does. |
kids are going to be out looking for buses in unfamiliar territory, doofus...and buses will NOT be on normal schedule. Kids won't know where to exit, the bus route is 3 blocks from their familiar cues |
