I live on the street next to Bowser's and my street has not been plowed. I have no words. Seriously, it would be different if kids had a yellow bus, but I can't get off of my street (love my prius, but not a cold weather car) and bus is running 45 minutes late (there is only 1 that runs this route in the morning).

Metro train it is I guess. He can wear his snow boots.

When my other son was still home (now in college), he went to private school. He would always get off on days like this and my DCPS son would always have school. They hated each other for it.

I am confused... I had no issues walking around with my dog this morning. Not slippery at all. As for sidewalks... give people some time! We shoveled ours at 7am and all our neighbors were out doing it as well. That's what a 2 hour delay is for! I also got to work fine by driving, roads were clear and buses were running on my driving route as normal.

This. The next 60-90 minutes is going to see some neighborly cleaning up and we'll be good to go. After last year's snow, we should be pros!

And the parents who were dropping the kids off probably were driving Maryland cars.

That's sad. I'm glad they have a place to go today, and I hope they got warmed up quickly.

Frankly, I was hoping that Trump had called Bowser into the Oval Office, Apprentice-style to tell her "You're fired!"

That will take the pressure of some families who are debating on whether to take the risk. The street I live on is a mess.

Students who don't show up today will be processed under the truancy procedures of the District of Columbia Public Schools.
This is incorrect. DCPS students will be given an excused absence for today. It's on their facebook, twitter, and it was on the news.

No kidding. I grew up in Berlin and schools NEVER closed for snow. Somehow, everyone found a way to get to school.

Yes. All school districts in the area are closed except DCPS. Even most DC charters have closed.

Metro was never closed. Metro Access - for people with disabilities was shut down last night. Sky falling much?

Most? I don't think that's true.
