Amber Heard divorcing Depp

Even before this news...when we first heard about the divorce...I immediately suspected that he's a belligerent and violent drunk. He's literally morphing into his role model: crazy, stinky, fat-ass Marlon Brando.

I hope Amber gets as much money as she can, and I hope America stops worshipping Depp. I'm pretty sure he's the reason Winona Ryder went crazy---Depp is one of "those" guys.

That is not what has been reported. Check out TMZ. The articles specifically state that there were no injuries but that they still encouraged her to file a police report.

Sometimes a black eye, or bruises don't show up right away and it takes a few hours to set in. I know with my kids when they've gotten black eyes it's red at first and then overnight the bruising sets in.

I used to be a rape crisis and abuse crisis counselor, I worked for 10 years with women and children who were victims of domestic violence so I've seen it all. My gut reaction is that she's telling the truth. Why she is going public, I don't know. She is much younger than him and less famous, and therefore much less powerful. DV victims very quickly, if they stay in the relationship and don't immediately leave, become very afraid and lose most of their self esteem. JD has a long history of violent and odd behavior. There were rumors of him going ballistic on people when he lived in France, but not so much with Paradis (who strikes me as the type of person who would leave him, and his children lived with them so maybe this is why there were no stories of him hitting her). But I wouldn't be so quick to judge Heard, whether you like her personally or not. To fake an injury with a phone, is quite extreme. She has a well respected attorney who would not be in cohots with that. I'd be interested in learning more about the previous incidents. Just because she never went to the police before doesn't mean it didn't happen, he probably threatened her (who will believe you, do you know how much power I have in this town, you will be finished, no one will work with you again, you are nothing, etc.,.....)

As for the Chris Brown comparison, I think this is entirely different. Brown grew up in a very violent and unstable household, where his mother was frequently beaten in front of him by either his father or stepfather. His incident with Rihanna, while horrible and inexcusable, IMO is a reflection of that, and while he still seems like a hot head, he appears to have learned better ways at handling relationship stress with women and probably very much regrets what happened. I still would want my daughter to date him. I just don't think he's a habituatal woman beater, but Johnny Depp, with all the drinking and his temper, might be.

I doubt he is a wife beater per se, but I buy that he has fits of rage when drunk/high (screams, breaks and throws things). I think they were in a toxic relationship, and that he did throw his phone at her face, which is inexcusable. But she'll laugh all the way to the bank, which I believe was part of her original plan. She'll get a hefty payout for a short marriage that she entered with her eyes wide open. So, in sum, I think they are both assholes but that there is no excuse for his hurting her in any way.

Bruising next day... Redness would be immediate. There would be SOME mark on her face the police would have seen.

Redness and swelling would be immediate. For me, bruises in areas where there isn't much tissue (muscle or fat) bruise VERY rapidly, like within 2 hours - and the face is one of those ares. It would take longer on a more "thick" part of the body like a thigh.

I do think it's important to investigate all cases or alleged domestic violence, but I'm inclined to believe Depp - especially with the defense of his exes.

hate to say it, me too. Said the gets trailer trash angry. I believe he threw wine bottle, etc., not sure about the phone. He might be an angry guy, with issues, but with his exes coming out etc doesnt sound like a wife beater
