Personally I don't know what happened between these two. I can fully believe that this young woman was afraid for her safety and afraid of her husband, without it ever coming to blows - just based on his documented wild behavior and general drunkenness.

That's scary enough, but it doesn't mean he ever laid a hand on her. Emotional abuse, yes, violence - eh, probably not.
