Yes, flood Jeff with reports of people correcting grammar. This can only NOT be even more obnoxious than the people correcting the grammar....

Actually he encourages reporting posts that derail or add nothing to the topic. Especially when a topic is new because it sets a tone.

Grammar nazis are not doing it out of the goodness of their hearts they are doing it to point and laugh and get a little jolly from it.

He encourages people to report grammar police (nazi offends me)?

He encourages reporting posts that derail the topic or add nothing to it but nastiness. As I stated.

I've never seen website feedback complaints about spelling police derailing threads but obviously if it's being reported I'm not privy to that. If a random grammar correction thrown into a thread details you then you have bigger issues to deal with than you think....

I frequently delete grammar-correcting posts that are reported to me. They do tend to detract from the discussion.

Will you delete posts reported for their bad grammar? Because I find those much more distracting and detracting from the discussion than posts noting grammatical errors.

No, that is a personal issue with which I will leave you to struggle. However, if you ask politely in the Health and Medicine forum, I am sure that that you can get a useful -- though perhaps grammatically flawed -- suggestion for professional help to develop coping mechanisms.

Well isn't that a nice, PC way of passive aggressively criticizing.

Mind if I borrow it?

Captain Arbitrary and his Singing Sword of Snide strike again.

I mean this kindly. I really feel sorry for the "grammar police". It is like they are compelled by an OCD tick. They cannot help themselves from correcting and when asked to stop they become distressed by it.

They don't seem to understand that while casually conversing on an anonymous internet forum sometimes you type faster than you consciously think. They don't understand that not everyone has english as a first language. They lack empathy for those who may not have been privy to a stellar education. They lack the understanding that some people just don't give hoot about it.

Poor ole grammar police - let's cut them some slack. They can't help themselves. It is just their way.

PP You are kind to correct only the previous poster. With the previous poster's rambling writing, I feel like a grammar police who has been told to stand down and not interrupt while crimes are being committed.

I know Jeff already said no, but I agree with this.
