I send an email to news organizations when I see a typo or misspelled word. CNN doesn't care. They never correct or respond. The folks at the WaPo respond with an email thanking me for catching it, and then correct it quickly. No snark needed.
I mean this kindly. I really feel sorry for the "grammar police". It is like they are compelled by an OCD tick. They cannot help themselves from correcting and when asked to stop they become distressed by it. They don't seem to understand that while casually conversing on an anonymous internet forum sometimes you type faster than you consciously think. They don't understand that not everyone has english as a first language. They lack empathy for those who may not have been privy to a stellar education. They lack the understanding that some people just don't give hoot about it. Poor ole grammar police - let's cut them some slack. They can't help themselves. It is just their way.
