Jesus, I hope your kid is older. I know many kids that grew 1.5 foot half taller at 14 and ended better than all the 'natural 9-12 year old athletes". I don't think once I have ever experienced a 'wish my kid were better at x, y or z'. Please try to separate yourself from your child. Let them live their life. |
Very wise comment. My kids plays travel soccer and multiple other sports at the rec level. Believe me, I have seen CRAZY attitude from coaches and parents at the rec level just as often as I do at the travel level. So it is not just travel sports and it is not just soccer. |

For anyone currently at BRYC - what is your impression of how well things are being run at the younger age groups (U9 - U12)? On the BRYC web site they gave a contact e-mail address to use if you wanted to go to an Open Training Session prior to Tryouts. I sent e-mails expressing interest but have received no response. Is this just an aberration or typical?

My 7-year old son could kick her ass . LOL. I love when they have the player stats on the little kids --4 feet 4", 70 lbs. Adorable!!

And this is how good youth soccer should look in comparison to bad youth soccer. But I'm sure there are great athletes on the bad soccer example too.

Yeah, she's pretty good. And has continued to develop: http://www.slsgsoccer.com/ferguson-invited-to-train-with-usgnt/ |
boys or girls? |
What part of "I hate myself for it" did you not understand? |
Torn ACL. Really sad, but really not surprising, when we consider how parents and coaches think. |
Age group? For U9B I think the practices are organized...lots of passing drills. Only concern I have is 1 head coach and 2 assistants for a total of 6 teams between U9/10, but they seem to manage from what I have observed thus far. The skill level I have also seen from the boys vary widely. |
Boys or girls, as it's two different sets of coaches? On the girls side, I've found the DoC to be responsive, even if he hasn't told us who the coaches will be next year, and I've seen kids from other clubs at training sessions. May want to check your spam folder. |
9B and 10B have had lots of players at their open sessions |

I would not generalize about travel parents at Arlington or elsewhere based on the handful of mocking posters on this thread. What is happening here is more of a DCUM thing than a travel soccer parent thing in my view. Not that I'm knocking DCUM mind you. I am fascinated by the fact that a post asking for tryout dates has resulted in a litmus test you can use to determine whether you entitled to say your child (or your child's friend) is a future star. |
The boys DOC is definitely getting those emails and passing them along. I'd send another email. Make sure the address is correct. |
