Yikes! That doesn't sound good. Why are the acceptances/list public record???? I wouldn't want my kids name out there. |
People really are shopping around this year. Spots at their current clubs aren't the guarantees they once were. I think it'll go back to "normal" next year. |
These kids got spots though. I know a few got spots in top group and still left. |
That many kids declining, something wrong with the Club. Period. |
Agreed. Maybe they'll begin to realize they are doing something wrong. Glad to see people had balls. |
|
We don't even know which club this is.
People are trying out for several clubs. At each club, someone will decline. Not a surprise. |
Not necessarily. As someone noted above, a lot more people tried out at multiple clubs this year because of all of the uncertainty associated with the birth year changes. Without knowing the specifics at your situation, I wouldn't get too worried about the number of declines this year. |
They lost 20 players---2 teams worth. |
These were local kids/home club. Not players that just drove from far out for kicks or to get an offer to use as a poker chip. This is why I am concerned. |
OK, that's a lot. In this case, I'd still say some were simply shopping around, but some might be dissatisfied with the club. Or, depending on the club, they may be seeking a higher level of competition. I know a few people who still like their home clubs but are leaving for clubs that really are among the elites -- Bethesda, Braddock Road, D.C. United, etc. |
How do you know how any declined? |
We attended the BRYC Tryouts as well. Coach said he would take all the boys however most of them seemed to be returning players with some new ones sprinkled in. |
Lists are public information and change as the rejections come in. |
Yep. My kid got asked to move up because somebody declined. |
U9 was pretty weak. I would say maybe 10 or so kids total and of course all of them got accepted. There was concern that they would not be able to field a team but I think had just enough. We got an invite but didnt accept due to the uncertainty of the club and new coaches. I believe u10 had the most players at 12-15 and U11 had about 5. |
