So, John and Kate have spoken. Do you think they'll stay together?

I have to defend Kate a bit here. In terms of the tanning, and the travel, she's been parenting multiples for 7 years - don't you think she's tired and in need of a break sometimes? Even with help, it has got to be exhausting to manage that household, especially when her husband is her 9th child.

If it was just tanning and manis and a trainer, okay, but it's the hypocricy. It's "I'm doing it all for the children, all my sacrifices are for the children" then doing all that plus her crazy promotional travel schedule etc. It's like, do you spend any time with the children? Why not tan during a trip when you are away from them anyway?

I'm all for mommy alone time and pampering, but with 8 kids it seems irresponsible. shouldn't they be budgeting some of this for the future when the show goes away? surely it will. I read she flies first class every time, employs security for when she travels without the kids, etc.

We only know what we read in tabloids and see on the t.v. Reality shows are quite obviously NOT reality. The only people who know what really went down are Jon and Kate. I think raising 8 children and having the cameras in your face 24/7 would make anyone have some marriage problems. Well, except for the family with 18 kids....they seem to have it somewhat together. However, that is still "reality" t.v. too....

Like canceling an IUI or clomid induced cycle that has that many follicles or not transferring a million embryos during an IVF. To say she didn't "intentionally" get pregnant with that many babies is hilarious.
And as far as being "tabloid fodder" -- THEY HAVE CREATED THIS. When you put your family on TV and get paid, including free products, your life (all of it) is a free-for-all for the media. This is what celebrity means. And she is whoring her children out. By definition "whoring" means to compromise one's principles for personal gain. She is doing just that, and her children are going to be the ones to pay the price. Sad, sad, sad!

My doctor once told me (RE) that their IUI was cancelled due to too many folicles, but she went home and trigger herself and had sex. She is a nurse, she was full aware of the possible consequences. No one should risk things like that if you are not open about selective reduction...they really lucked out because those kids are all very healthy, but that is not what usually happens in this kind of pregnancy.

Original PP who questioned how she got pregnant with that many babies. Having gone through years of fertility treatments myself, I have heard of this happening. and it is SHOCKING! They are indeed very lucky to have 6 healthy children.

Oh, waaaahhhh. Did someone force her into this life? Please, dear God, can people take responsibility for their choices and shut the hell up.

You all do realize that they have help and are not raising all these kids on their own?!?!? Google "Aunt Jodi"...you should read what she has to say....

As I can see nobody here learned a thing from them.
You're all little Jons and Kates yourselves!

Please - no one should learn anything from them. They are hardly role models.

If that's the case, then people can learn what not to do/be from them.

I do not like Kate, her personality is very different than mine. She is not the kind of person I would ever be social with. I'm really not a fan of Jon either. I find him rather dull. So why do I watch this show? I'm just fascinated by how they get everything done with such a large family while I'm scrambling with just two.

Having watched the show almost from the beginning, I have always found the two of them to be somewhat of a mis-match. She is so anal retentive and he is so passive. They always seemed to have difficulty communicating at all, much less in a way that is respectful toward each other.

As far ast he tanning and other stuff goes... who cares! I work full time and occassionally find time to get a manicure, or even have lunch with a friend on a Saturday. Does that mean I don't want to spend time with my children? Do I have to spend every waking minute with my children outside of work to prove that I love them? I don't think so. So what if Kate is tanned and has nice nails. She doesn't love her children less because of it.

I feel they have done what they have done in the best interest of their family. Although I don't care for either Kate or Jon as people, I believe they love their children and have done what they felt was right in order to provide for them. It was very sad to watch these two people falling apart on national TV. The marriages of everyday people get tested. I wish for them what I would wish for anyone else... a good therapist.

I posted this earlier. Another thought I've had while following this show/family is how odd it is that Kate's parents and siblings are never around. You would think they would at least be at birthday parties. Her side of the family is not discussed. It's weird.

By the way, as I said earlier, I've followed this show almost from the beginning... I don't live in a trailer park and I have a master's degree... shocking, isn't it? Oh, and I became addicted to The Real Housewives of New York City while on my recent maternity leave. I just read there is going to be a Real Housewives of DC next year... I'll be watching every episode!

If you're intelligent, you can learn from people's mistakes.
