So, John and Kate have spoken. Do you think they'll stay together?

This is a response to several of the posts.

1. "Show is so low brow" and viewers must be "trailer park." Most of the viewers I know are extremely well-educated (including myself who went the grad school, professional life, delay kids route), and I think part of the allure is that this is SUCH a different way to live a life. Besides, why are you such a snob about poor people who live in trailer parks? Does it make you feel better about your life? I can't imagine that anyone lives in those places as their first choice.

2. "Kate's way of talking makes her a bitch." I come from a large family. There is NO way to get a lot of kids from one place to another (or dressed or fed) without someone taking charge. (Especially if your family, like mine, prioritizes travel and many educational experiences. It takes a lot of work). It tends to be the mother -- and the experience does tend to shape a woman's personality and her marriage. My own mother began to sound like a drill sargeant. Didn't make her a bitch, but it did open her up to ridicule from others who had no idea how hard her job was. My dad always understood and defended her.

3. They should quit the show. I agree. It seems a clear choice between the marriage and the fame/money. They've made enough. I think that Kate is just being greedy at this point. But Jon's apparent cheating probably makes divorce a foregone conclusion.

Just my opinions.

"Just my opinions." Yes. And stunning dull ones, despite the education....

PP here. Sorry -- one last response.

There was one exchange here about whether are people are jealous of families with lots of kids. Absolutely true for a lot of people. People were fascinated by my family. Our home was a magnet for only children. It still is -- at any given holiday gathering, we have four or five people who just have no other place to be.

I'm not saying that large families are worthy of jealousy -- just that many have a certain impression of what it's like.

The family appeared on the cover of Good Housekeeping last year. I guess that is the Bible for trailer park residents.

I'm sure this'll fall on deaf ears, but a lot of people live in trailer parks. Low income =/= trashy or low brow.

Boy, there's quite an obsession here on the expression "trailer parks." Must be some lower middle class southerners on this board because they are the only people I've ever met who love to throw around that expression all the time.

Correction: Stunningly dull.

I believe you meant "stunningly dull ones." You must be the "trailer park" troll or just a bitch.

I was wondering how many times last night Kate was going to say, "I"m doing this all alone. By myself". Every other statement was something to this effect. Like it was torture for her to be with them all day without help.

I also was wondering if all of the alleged infidelity and angst was a publicity stunt to breathe life into the show. Since maybe we were all getting sick of the freebies and contrived events.

Thank God. What's the deal with people who never shut up? And keep saying the obvious? Looking for attention? Bored? Not enough sex? Jeez.

She's a shrew; he's a dolt. The kids are screwed.

I haven't watched last night's episode. Not sure if I will or not, as I haven't been a regular follower.

But, Jon & Kate have taught me what I already learned from Nick & Jessica!!

13:26, ignore the snark. There are folks who aren't happy unless someone's stirring the pot. I nodded in agreement through your entire post.

I think it's funny when other people negatively judge others for watching trash or stupid TV.

Why even read the thread, it's hardly a mystery what's it about.

That being said, I don't watch the show, but have been following the trash tabloids. There is nothing wrong with spending a few minutes of your busy week unwinding in front of ridiculous TV. I watch maybe 2 hours of TV a week, most of it worthless. I have a challenging job and a kid, husband, house, etc. Nothing wrong with that! No different than spending time on DCUM really.

I think of it as junk food. Normally I make smart food choices, I eat nice balanced meals. But every once in a while? I just want a bowl of chips. Nothing wrong with that.

Totally agree. There is no need to eat a hot dog, but if I'm at a ballgame once every year or two, I may get one.

Same with trashy tabloids like Us Weekly. I read enough (supposedly) intelligent stuff at work. I can indulge in brain candy once in a while.
