So, John and Kate have spoken. Do you think they'll stay together?

Actually, she grew up in a trailer park.

I admit it... I watch the show regularly... it's a guilty pleasure. So, sue me!

I do not like Kate, her personality is very different than mine. She is not the kind of person I would ever be social with. I'm really not a fan of Jon either. I find him rather dull. So why do I watch this show? I'm just fascinated by how they get everything done with such a large family while I'm scrambling with just two.

Having watched the show almost from the beginning, I have always found the two of them to be somewhat of a mis-match. She is so anal retentive and he is so passive. They always seemed to have difficulty communicating at all, much less in a way that is respectful toward each other.

As far ast he tanning and other stuff goes... who cares! I work full time and occassionally find time to get a manicure, or even have lunch with a friend on a Saturday. Does that mean I don't want to spend time with my children? Do I have to spend every waking minute with my children outside of work to prove that I love them? I don't think so. So what if Kate is tanned and has nice nails. She doesn't love her children less because of it.

I feel they have done what they have done in the best interest of their family. Although I don't care for either Kate or Jon as people, I believe they love their children and have done what they felt was right in order to provide for them. It was very sad to watch these two people falling apart on national TV. The marriages of everyday people get tested. I wish for them what I would wish for anyone else... a good therapist.

exactly!!! isn't Jon the one that betrayed the family and had the affair. why is everyone hating on Kate. Poor woman is probably going through a lot in front of millions of people.

OMG this thread got me excited about watching the premiere - watching it tonight at 8pm!!! also for those who are interested

1) i love the show because it makes me put into perspective having one kid
2) if i had 8 kids i would be a b* too
3) anybody who goes on a reality tv show based on their marriage will get divorced - end of story

What is the target audience of this program? It is very low brow.

wow, I was going to write the same thing! We definitely think alike on this matter.

I will also admit that I was always a little jealous that Jon and Kate got to spend time without their kids. I have two special needs children and haven't been away overnight or even beyond 3 hours from them, since the older one was born 4 years ago. *sigh*

Why did they go the fertitlity treatment route when they already had two children?

"It was too intimate a look into their lives, IMO. I found it very uncomfortable and felt so sorry for the kids, who will forever have this preserved for them on "DVD, Season 4 (or whatever) of Jon and Kate Plus 8."

Totally agree with that poster. I figured they would address their marital issues very generally (and briefly). I am stunned that so much was discussed. I really, really feel for those kids.

Can't speak for everyone, but I have only been concentrating on my dislike of Kate because I just assumed everyone thought Jon was not even worth talking about. He is clueless and I agree he is just as bad for letting Kate take their lives in this direction (the TV show and fame-whoring, not the affair - that's all him). He seems spineless. And an ass.

The family appeared on the cover of Good Housekeeping last year. I guess that is the Bible for trailer park residents.

BTW, I am an Ivy-League educated WOHM. I watch the show because I like being judgmental. Sounds like you would like it too.

I'm sure this'll fall on deaf ears, but a lot of people live in trailer parks. Low income =/= trashy or low brow.
