Possible Rape at Sidwell?

Anonymous
This is very damaging to Sidwell. Aren't they suppose to be one of the most secure
Campuses? The First Family sends their daughters there? What kind of kids go to
this school? Are they not reaching respect for women?

I don't care if their pictures are on the front page of the Post tomorrow. Their identities will not be disclosed here. Second, any posts that I find to be racist, sexist, classist, or any other thing that ends in "ist" will be removed. Fair warning, my sensitivity meter is turned up to "high". As long as you folks want to blabber about how good you are at recognizing Secret Service officers, you are good to go. But, get too far outside the parameters I've set and this thread will be deleted.

I think those are great parameters. However, I have to ask why is your sensitivity meter regarding any of the "ist" high on this thread, but not on the other threads? I've read a lot of things on this board that cross that line or walk close to it and there was no "ground rules" posted on those threads. Just trying to understand why this one and not others, as I think the ground rules you set are great and should apply to a lot of other threads.

I agree it is damaging. However, lets be realistic rape can happen anywhere even the places we believe to be the most safest ones. I'm sure Sidwell is teaching respect for women. Apparently one student seemed to think it didn't apply to him.

They did not "confirm" a rape at Sidwell. They reported that police are INVESTIGATING. No arrests have been made. The report was made Wednesday night.

I can't read every thread. You are welcome to report messages that you think are inappropriate.

WaPo reported the claim of a rape. The investigation will determine credibility of the claim.

You didn't know they where that close. LOL. I know some of the agents on the family detail and you wouldn't Be able to pick them all out if you tried.

lol as do i.

trust me, they weren't that close.

Where they so far away that she could be raped without them seeing it? Doubt it. No they aren't holding their hands and escorting them around campus, but they are close enough to to pounce make no mistake about that.

it is important to note, consent is not implied just because they had a previous sexual relationship.
No consent = rape
I hope her identity is kept private and they all get proper counseling. Devastating for all indeed.

I must add here, sex in HS often has devastating consequences for all involved. It's a very sad thing.

Yep and most of the time there are no devastating consequences. Sex is HS is very common. Many of your friend had sex in HS.

I agree with the earlier writer. For lots of reasons, kids (and they are still kids) are way too immature to be having sex at this age. It's hard for them to rationalize that what may be consent on a Friday is no longer consent on a Sunday when the same conduct occurs.

Exactly.

were you ever in high school? plenty of kids were sexually active by senior year- probably the majority. and people knew the difference btw/ consensual sex and rape. a 17 year old is not a child.

They still are immature, particularly on how to interpret consent. And immature or not, since when did having sex on a high school campus become acceptable? There's going to be at least one open spot at Sidwell, perhaps two.

A majority of high school seniors at sexually active these days. It's a fact. If you close your eyes to it, you miss the opportunity to discuss this with your kids.

The article did not suggest that the Obamas were involved. Why are you?

What? I'm not suggesting the Obama girls where involved. I'm fairly confident they weren't because this story would not be in the public domain. I was responding the posters comment I quoted that one time she was on campus and passed by one of the Obama girls and the SA was not that close.
