Possible Rape at Sidwell?

There are rarely details at the beginning of an investigation. I am sure the Washington Post will have more information once there is an investigation. You don't think it is important to know the facts?

it is important to note, consent is not implied just because they had a previous sexual relationship.
No consent = rape
I hope her identity is kept private and they all get proper counseling. Devastating for all indeed.

They should kick both kids out and right soon! Rape, consent or not, fornicating on campus should lead to immediate expulsion. The fact that in the past it had been a consensual relationship makes it worse, not better.

Fornicating? Really? The article said they have a previous sexual relationship. It did not say it was on campus, only that the rape was on campus. Fornicating? I'm stuck on your use of that ridiculous word like Sodwell is some conservative religious school. It may me Quaker, but nothing felt religious about it. Spiritual yes.

True. I wonder if the parents even contacted the school or went straight to the police.

Of course I do. But why is it important for you to comment now on something that you know nothing about. I know, why don't we wait until we get the facts?!

The accusation is very serious. Rape. It is not consensual sex. This is why this discussion is valid. To suggest that the victim should be expelled from the school is outrageous

Only smart parents go STRAIGHT to the police.

Welp that rejection letter we got from Sidwell doesn't sting as much anymore. Glad that I don't habe to deal with family and friends asking if that's the same school I'm sending my DD to!

Of course it is serious, but last I checked, most people let the police do their jobs before assuming they know what happened.

Hope she got the rape kit and all. Sometimes these things can be hard to prove. Both of their lives are now forever changed. And their families.

Guess you can say the same about Stanford, Yale, Harvard, Brown, Princeton, Dartmouth, Columbia etc.. Might not have any colleges to apply to.

If campuses are still as unsafe when my daughters start as they were when I and several classmates were raped, I will hesitate to encourage any historically coed campus.
