+1

They’re dense cakes. Not donuts.

Duck "Donuts" are a fad right now. I predict they'll be gone or significantly scaled back within 5 years.

+1 their filled donuts are fresh and delicious

My favorite are Midwestern apple cider donuts which are surprisingly difficult to find around here, they have some good ones at the Takoma Park farmers' market year round. The vegan donuts at Donut Run are very good - but super expensive, and I refuse to wait in line.

There is an outstanding cinnamon sugar donut at Sunday Morning Bakehouse in Rockville. Insanely expensive, but the closest I've come to a good sugar raised donut.

It's a shame that B Donuts place fell apart. I really liked their savory bagel donuts.

Donut Run in Takoma DC. No question for me.

Cake donuts are not donuts in my book.

Their jelly donuts are nice, too. But, yes, expensive.

The Sweetwater/Best Buns chain has these ozzie rolls that taste like an unglazed donut. So warm. mmm.

Duck Donuts are by far my favorite.

+1 for Good Company Doughnuts. I live in DC and haven't found any really good doughnuts here but I get these when I'm passing through N Arlington. So good!
