Ok -- I'm still good with 1 less person getting struck down by a gun.
What the freak is your point, that people will kill people anyway so let them have any and all kinds of weapons? Not smart, my friend. Rather foolish actually.

By your logic, we should also ban cars.

If people were DELIBERATELY using cars as weapons of violence, then yes.
Your lack of logic is astounding.

Some have.

If you get into conspiracy theory, I bet the profiles of these men are similar.

Tim McVeigh
Loughner
Oswald
James Earl Ray
Hinkley
Lanza

Hinkley is a paranoid schizophrenic. As is Loughner. Lanza has a history of mental illness - never 'normal'.

An unarmed black man in South Carolina can get killed for having a busted taillight but I got $5 says they bring this dude in without a scratch.

I'm so tired of all of this police bashing. Give it a rest.

Yes - this is a horrific and disgusting crime and this suspect deserves to spend his life in prison, if not worse. Suspects are sometimes injured by police when they are considered to be a physical threat to the police or refuse to obey a lawful order. Look at Wint (the DC mansion murder suspect) - he's a black man that was apprehended without a scratch - he did not resist arrest and followed the officers' instructions, as it should be. If an officer lacks probable cause for an arrest, that can be sorted out later. There's due process for that.

Are there some racist and bad police officers? Of course. But the majority are just good people trying to do their job in dangerous and life-threatening circumstances. I'd love to see you give it a try.

Sigh. Activism breeds hate.

FBI agent on CNN opined it's a wig. He also said he appears to have on body armor. Nope, not mentally ill. This was well thought out.

From your lips to God's ears.

I think we are all saddened and sickened by the continued and escalating violence in this nation (and world). If you have close ties to this community, I'm sure this latest incident is hitting you in a much more personal way. However, it is no way senseless talking points for people to talk about the broader issue of addressing gun violence that results in these kinds of horrific tragedies. What is senseless is a society that allows this to happen time and again. We have to talk about and more importantly we have to do something. No one deserves to die like this and no family, community, or friend, deserves to lose a loved one like this. WE HAVE TO TALK ABOUT IT -- WE MUST STAND UP AND DO SOMETHING. Our tears mean nothing if we do not work to prevent future grief. The best thing that can come out this, the highest honor to those taken too soon, is to make sure this does not happen again, and again, and again.

I see your point. What can you (or anyone for that matter) do? We must stand up and do a lot of things, none of which will ever get done. Sorry for raining on your parade, but it's a sad day for many.

Ban guns all you want, that's just taking them away from licensed owners. That means criminals will be the only one left with guns, then what Einstein!?

Yes, they most certainly do belong in this conversation. And, your logic is absolutely . . . . well, stupid.

Hmmm...you know the majority of police officers? And a lot of people would dispute what you consider to be a lawful order.

I don't think this is true. Gifford's shooter WAS 'crazy' - as evidenced by those who had interacted with him, and by his patterns of stalking, etc. Ditto the Aurora shooter. This man is not 'crazy' in that sense, nor will he be portrayed as such. It's clear from police statements so far that this man is a sociopath.

Aurora shooter was not crazy. He had a well thought out plan that he partially shared with the university's psychologist. According to her testimony, He was smart enough to leave out just enough information, time and location, to prevent her from reporting.

Sometimes they do, including cops. Hey, can we please stop this? There won't be a ban on guns in this country in the foreseeable future, so focus your attention on achieving compromise. Stricter controls, personal responsibility for owners, I don't know what else.

--not a shooter, but have guns and ammo in the house

Crazy people can be intelligent and excellent planners. Mental illness is just not the irrational, mumbling homeless people you see wondering the D.C. streets.
Mental illness is an insidious, awful thing that is manifested in myriad ways.

Crazy comes in degrees. I am sure most people have some degree of crazy. Stop making excuses for this criminal. He wasn't too crazy to not know what he was doing was wrong. He disguised himself and possibly wore body armor to protect himself.

I think you ought to look deeper into that. Paranoid schizophrenics often talk of killing people because .... wait for it ....of the paranoia. All his therapists were clear about that. A sociopath - let's take Bundy, Gacy, etc. often blend in well, are charming, etc That's why those particular type of killers are hard to find.
