Gary Condit?

^^^^

I realize the circumstances are not the same, but that dude was the obvious suspect for so many reasons...except he didn't do it.

You're right (and I'm impressed with how fast you came up with him!).

I don't know why, but although he was obviously sleazy, I still felt bad for the guy in the end that he really didn't have anything to do with it, yet he lost everything in the process. Unfortunate circumstances and the whole country knew your dirty laundry.

Like I said, yeah he's a sleaze and you can't pity him too much, but seriously, everyone thought he'd done it until they figured out some crazy dude had. Bad luck, Gary.

That's funny. I never thought that he did it.

I almost hate pointing this out because it seems cold or callous given the suffering of the victim's children, family, friends, etc. ... but stabbing someone to death is a very personal way to kill someone. It requires a lot of direct, violent contact with a victim. Unless a hired killer really took pleasure in killing, this probably isn't the method they'd choose, especially if they wanted the victim's death to look like a random act or like they were a stranger to the victim.

Not that this murder couldn't have been committed by someone hired to do it... I'd just be surprised if that turned out to be the case.

Didn't that Craig's List woman (or however they contacted each other) stab the lawyer in the hotel? I don't know that we can really speculate on what happened here. Honestly I wasn't aware that she had been stabbed.

Yes, most murders are selfish like that.

Whoever killed her left the kids alone. Few strangers will do that

+1. Husband needs a good lawyer.

Maybe she had a martiedboyfriend whose wife found out and stabbed her.

Yes, stabbing is how the lawyer died as well.

I'm not suggesting that a stabbing death points to her husband as the murderer, but arguing that it probably doesn't point to a killer for hire.

I can't believe no one in the neighborhood didn't see anything. Hopefully they did and the police have that info.

http://wtop.com/arlington/2015/04/police-hold-community-meeting-following-arlington-homicide/

That's the short article from WTOP about the community meeting police held with neighbors last night. It doesn't say anything new, but telling the community only to "take reasonable precautions" doesn't sound like police have any reason to believe right now that anyone other than Ms. Black was ever in danger from whoever killed her.

I would guess that the reason why we've not heard anything about a neighbor seeing anything is that she was killed during the night. Kids were probably sleeping. Killer had enough time to leave, clean up, dispose of knife and bloody clothes, etc.

I hope the killer had the decency (strange word to use here I know) to take steps to prevent the children from seeing their mother when they woke. If she was killed in her bedroom, for instance, locking the door so the kids couldn't get in and see her - then they just wouldn't know why mom wasn't opening the door or responding to them.

Horrifying, all of it.

The kids were found wandering the streets, barefoot and in pajamas. Kids don't go out into the streets like that unless they have already realized that something is horribly wrong.

I thought they were playing in their front yard in pajamas.

OJ Simpson killed his ex-wife with their young children asleep in the house. An abuser who murders usually couldn't care less about the kids.

Time for you to turn off your television.

Meaning maybe, just maybe, something went wrong with a case or a volatile past/current patient. Psychiatry can be a hazardous and dangerous career field.
