....and clearly has a lot of mommies that are "on" dcum. Take note and be cautious.

True, but as you'll see from the posts on Norwood as opposed to those on the NWDC schools, you'll see that we're a bit more relaxed. New Norwood parent poster here. Our daughter is very very happy there.

I was part of that earlier thread where some people were claiming a 99% WPPSI score might be a negative. I thought it was horseshit then, and I think it's horseshit now. Other people who seemed thoughtful and intelligent disagreed with me, so I give them some credit, but I still think it's not a negative.

FWIW, we were told outright by one AD that it was a negative to be too far above 99%. DC had a 99.8 WPPSI (and yes, 99.8 is much higher than 99% because of how it's normed) and that was definitely a negative. I assume that if one AD told us that, it is also true for other schools as well.

But there are LOTS of students at St. Albans, GDS, Sidwell, Maret, and other schools who are obviously in that range. So either (1) the AD you spoke to was one-of-a-kind or (2) s/he was trying to find a polite way of saying "don't count on us for your child.

For those of us who want to continue this discussion, I'm going to bump up the old thread on WPPSI scores. Could we please move this discussion over to that other thread, and not clutter up this thread further. I think it's an interesting discussion, but debating the significance of WPPSI scores isn't really what this thread is supposed to be about.

Congratulations to all who have heard good admissions news so far. Sincere sympathy to those who haven't gotten your own good news yet; I am keeping my fingers crossed for you. Good luck to all.

Hope you come. It is a very nice school that does everything very well. High standards loving staff. Runs smoothly. If it is a financial stretch, then I am sure that your local school would be fine. Good luck.

I hope the parents who are home today will write us as soon as the mail comes! I'm dying here at work thinking that some of the letter's from the other schools will show up in the mail. Since my mail doesn't show up until 5pm I figured how sense in working from home today. Thank you so much for those who continue to post results.

Obviously, PP can say whatever she wants about the race of her child. But in a private school admissions' context, race is a factor. Not the determining factor. But a significant factor. If you think otherwise, you're either naive or in denial.
