Acceptances due April 4 according to MCPS website, so hopefully the open houses are scheduled prior to April 4.

letter arrived with WL

Can those accepted and WL post scores and centers? Thanks!

why just accepted and WL vs everyone?

FYI - giving that amount of detail makes a family identifiable to County administrators. Perhaps a slightly more anonymous approach would be if families would post median scores per center and say whether thier child scored above or below each component and what their outcome was (accepted, not accepted, WL).

Who cares if you are identifiable? You are free to share your scores with anyone you choose.

Anyone else opened a letter?

Absolutely - if you want to share - go for it.

However, some families might prefer to be more anonymous, that's all.

All that would be revealed is that you post on DCUM.

Maybe they just emailed parents of kids whose homeschool also happens to be CCES.

you had to put your email on the HGC application.

DS was not accepted. All median scores in our area were 133-130- 125. DS killed the nonverbal ( way way way over median) - I am so proud he can use his congnative abilities in finding new resoureful ways and applying them to new situations.

DS score on Quantitive was the same as Median.

Here was the issue- and I knew this going into the process: Verbal was only 125. And, looking back on his reports cards and probably teacher recommendations he is smart yet lazy and a bit unmotivated, especially in writing. I was hoping the HGC would push him to do his best. But, if there is a lot of writing and language based assignments then staying in his home school might be best. He really hates to write.

DS will not not be sad...in fact he will be happy not to do the extra work. He would much rather film with his video camera and concentrate on computer hacking.

Thanks for letting me share- best of luck.

Thanks for sharing PP. Your son (and mine) will be just fine. Obviously they are looking for the all-over high scoring kids and our math/computer guys are not the best fit. That's just fine with me and with my son too.
