MCPS GT Acceptance Letters

We got an email today saying we were accepted and that the letters were delayed due to weather-- so we don't know our child's scores. They invited us to an open house to check out the program this is for CCES.

You will find out tomorrow. I find the CCES post hard to believe. How would they have all of the parents email addresses? Why not just let them wait another day?

No letter today; only coupons for pizza. How can a team of teachers recommend a student if they don't know the child's abilities one-on-one?

This is where teacher's and PTA pet's come in and why only the median score is released. This is precisely the wiggle room the Principals and third grade teachers use for manipulation. I am not complaining but presenting the plain facts. This is critical in the setting and a huge supply/demand imbalance in the the system.

Well, no, you're not presenting facts, you're offering your personal theory. Doesn't necessarily mean you're wrong, though.

I guess you don't associate with MCPS teachers (and Principals) in your network of friends?

Of course, this is usually the conspiracist's next line of defense after it's pointed out that they've presented a fact-free argument: "I've heard" or "I know people." Whatever.

I think e-mail poster is a troll too. No one else seems to have received one. I am surprised they would put an e-mail together for a 1 day mail delay. I am not waiting on a letter but that just doesn't sound likely.

FROM the GT discussion board (same person who posted regarding letters going out on Friday):

"I just received clarification that all HGC parent letters were brought to central office Friday and were supposed to go out Monday morning. However due to the snow cancellation yesterday--all letters to parents were sent out this morning, Tuesday, March 18th. And, all parents will receive a letter including their child's test results. This will include parents of children not accepted into the program. Information on the appeals process should also be included which requires parents to submit new information about their child to be reconsidered. Sorry for the confusion."

Poster from 19:49 OMG. I am so not a troll. Trying to be helpful to other families waiting on pins and needles sharing that WE got notice VIA EMAIL that our child was accepted. I would have shared the information had it said that our child was not accepted. Sorry that people are so jealous and bitter. Get a life. There is a open house being held- call the central office and ask if an email was sent out to the accepted families.
