OP here. I hadn't realized there were so many pages of responses now. In a way I'm glad to hear everyone got these huge long lists of things their pets are allergic to. I thought my cat was a freak when I saw how many foods she is theoretically allergic to. I tried buying Blue Buffalo Wild, the only grain free food I could find since they've err all on the bad list for her. She supposedly can only have turkey and salmon for protein. Of course she hates it. But the other cat that was not tested likes it.
I am also thinking of ordering this, I have a very sick 13yr old kitty and my vet is the best but we do not want to put her thru the invasive testing..I do want to say to all the people that are owned by kitties! If you are having problems with losing hair licking and vomiting, please check all their food and immediately take off of food with ANY fish in it except fish oil. Day and night from throwing up but check ingredients carefully it is in most..yes even chicken, turkey and beef flavored foods! We have found the best ones are plain turkey and gravy and chicken and gravy dinners, We just discovered fancy feast Turkey and she loves it finally found something that we may be able to get her to eat and put these 1.5 lbs back on her. It is true they are allergic to so many many things..we just cant figure out all of them and my baby is basically bald but still as beautiful as ever. I have gone as green as possible in the house but I know there is more I can do..just please first try taking out all fish..and yes its a marketing ploy and a lot of vets are not accepting this yet, My vet specializes in this field and he is awesome!

This is not a legitimate way to test for allergies. Remote allergy testing requires blood sera and IgE. Your pet will have adequate sera or IgE for testing in hair or saliva.

Sorry, I meant "will not" have adequate sera or IgE for testing in hair or saliva |
Agreed it is not the preferred way to go but it is a place to start for those who cannot afford the testing done at the vet and looking for some relief for our pets without doing any harm to them imo
I ordered this through living social a while ago. I don't remember how long it took for the whole process but my dog has a long list of allergies based on the results. I work at a veterinary hospital and understand that skin issues are a nightmare and a long battle of trial and error. The results are accurate but not only food elimination will help, it has to be in combination with environmental allergy control as well as topical treatment (at least in my case that's what's needed). I now cook a simple diet for my dog of items he is not allergic to and have developed a pretty simple strategy that seems to be working. Good luck to the rest of you and hope you find your cure!
It's on Living Social again. I'm glad I read this forum!! I was about to buy it.
We have an allergy pup and the vet told us to stay away from grains, gluten, dairy and the usual proteins (chicken, beef, etc). they had us put her on a food with salmon and her rash cleared up quickly and her coat got softer. Our other pup seemed to be in good shape but his coat got softer from the salmon food as well. they both love it. it's from Taste of the Wild and the flavor is Pacific Stream. We get it at a local PetCo affilliate.
PLEASE dont fall for this scam!! I tested them by doing 2 mail in tests and they failed...completely!! I also bought a living social deal and was shocked when i got the results. Things that i know for sure were affecting my dog showed as OK and some that didnt affect her were on their list. I ordered 2 sets (1 for a friedns dog). I decided to send in a sample from the same dog previously tested and got a completely different list of do's and donts!!! Unbeleivable that they could get away with this!!!
I bought the living social deal and got the results 2 weeks after I sent it in. My dog has been battling itching his whole life and I hope that this will help up better battle it
DO NOT BUY! The results are absolutely pointless unless there is something obvious in their diet that should not be there. They give you three categories of "Good", "Neutral", and "Bad". The list of "Bad" ingredients for our miniature dachshund contained 64 items! The bad list is simply a list of things that they could be allergic to or could have too much of in their system. The lists themselves contradict themselves too. Don't waste your money on something like this, it will get you nowhere.
I bought the deal in August when it was originally posted on Living Social. It took a longgg time to get the results back, but based on their findings I began cooking a homemade diet with food in the "Good" and "Neutral" columns in late November and I have seen dramatic improvement in my dog's skin condition. Don't get me wrong, I was - and still am - skeptical about this company and their process of detecting allergies. My dog (75lb male Australian Shepherd) had his annual exam last week at the Vet's office and I showed her the results. The Vet had always suspected that his allergies were environmental, as they tended to flare up during the change of seasons. This test said he was not allergic to ANY environmental factors. She checked his skin and ran her fingers through his coat and admitted it felt fuller, skin was less red, and his fur didn't have nearly the amount of dandruff/dander that is usually has. She was unfamilair with ImmuneIQ and the fact that their red "Bad/Problem" column filled up three pages worth of foods, while the "Good" column only had about a half page. The only good protein was Beef, and he was allergic to rice (brown/white), potatoes, flaxseed, tapioca, wheat, and just about any other grain or filler you'd find in a manufactured pet food. I've never invested in a more expensive test through my vet, but my experience with ImmuneIQ has been postive. As skeptical as I am, I cannot deny that after 2 months of feeding an elimination diet my dog is significantly less itchy (and we live in New England, so this is typically the time of year he gets super itchy due to the dry air and freezing temperatures).
i sdent in my test results about a month ago and haven't gotten them back yet. anyone have a phone number for them or e-mail address. Thanks
DO NOT Trust this!! I got my results and changed my dogs diet based on their results. She started losing hair again and itching like crazy. I sent in another sample of the same dog but changed the name on there to test them -- and got completely different results. They are bogus and 100% fake!
I ordered through Living Social but I am not sure of the date. I received the kit and swabbed my dogs cheek and collected some hair. I waited a few weeks and received an email with the results. Whoa. Dog is allergic to a lot of stuff we feed him. Hmmm. Maybe that is why he has been scratching since... Forever! He is 9 years old now. I have done a lot of research and vets and allergist test blood. This test uses saliva and hair. The hair will show toxicity over time. I can't say about saliva. I am satisfied but out of curiosity I want to do another test under a different name and see if I get the same results.
