Immune IQ allergy test for pets?

Anonymous
I thought there’s no allergy test can tell me what my pet’s problem’s were. He suffered from severe allergies but when I found the Immuneiq Test for my pet, I thought, why not. I’ve tried everything else. Spend hundreds. My problem was totally solved. The report that they gave is a great help! I altered Honey’s diet and she’s not 100% better but she’s over 60% better. I refuse to give her steroids. So I am happy with 60% now.

This test is a total scam, don't waste your money. They send back a 3 column list with foods your dog is 'good' with, neutral with, or should be kept away from/has too high levels of in their system. It's totally vague and just leads to many more questions. If you try to ask questions they respond in 2 to 4 days with generic answers that do not go beyond what is in their faq on their website.

Their test results also mentioned my dog has allergy to yucca, which is virtually impossible. It said he has heart worm, which is non-existent in this environment and he takes a monthly pill to prevent. It listed Beef and Sweet Potato, and eggs under allergies, but he eats those all the time without any issue.

I asked for a copy of the actual lab results but they claim they don't have them... in their words...

"The Green, Yellow, Red system we have developed is part of our "vet-free" system for understanding our results. Our proprietary software takes lab results and translates them into this easy to understand report for our non-technical customers. You do not need a vet or vet consultation fee to make sense of and have the results read to you. For some people, it's too simple. Oversimplified. But most of our customers appreciate the insight and direction our test provides at a very reasonable price point.

Our proprietary software was specifically designed for a non-expert to be able to read, understand and use the information without requiring a vet or vet's visit. Value and convenience. This is what our customers expect from ImmuneIQ.com. Our lab directly inputs the results of the tests they perform into our software which generates these reports. I am sorry I can not access any more than your PDF report for you."

If you push for further explanation they recommend you consult with a vet who they recommend. That vet will 'consult' for $60 for a $15 minute phone call.

It took awhile to get the initial package to send back samples as well as to get test results, but as the email they sent said, they were overwhelmed by the Living Social response and are doing the best they can. The results I received lined up with what I expected. I sure wouldn't jump to the conclusion that it's a scam. Several have posted here and elsewhere that their results were confirmed by vet tests. If nothing else it is good directional information at a fair price, and you can decide what to do as a next step if you choose.

I did this test in late August/early September, with no delays or problems from ImmuneIQ. Received the results pretty quickly.

I forwarded the test results of my cat to her veterinarian, and this is her response:

"I am doing a little research ….. I was excited at the thought of an at-home allergy test as that would greatly increase the number of patients who could be helped. I was, however, skeptical of the test. Antibodies are what cause the allergy symptoms, so how could they determine allergies without measuring and quantifying the antibodies? While hair is a good way to determine exposure to certain chemicals, it does not contain anything remotely associated with your body’s response to antigens. I figured they must have determined something in the saliva which has not been published yet. In addition, for our bodies to develop an allergy, we have to be exposed to that product. For example, if you have never eaten a bald eagle, you physically CANNOT be allergic to bald eagle. There are a couple of things listed on the allergy list with which Elle would never have come in contact. The ImmuneIQ website does not explain their methodology- they say only that it is a ‘propriety process’, which in the drug world means ‘we don’t’ have to tell you’, so…. I called the company. They do not have technical support or a veterinarian on staff for me to talk to. They took my name and number and said they will have someone call me. Once I get some information, I will be in touch. Unfortunately, at this time, I do not have much faith in this particular test. I hope the company representative will be able to shed some light and restore my confidence. Talk soon-"

Hope this sheds some light for some people. I will let post again if she responds back to me with any more answers.

Thought I would help someone struggling with their pet’s itching. We did the Immuneiq test with all the extra tests for our 2 yr old boxer. It is accurate because we did the blood allergy test through the vet and it was spot on but told us more. Was less than $100.

I have a very itchy lab. I have had food allergy test done (spent approx. $600 on test) but learned you cannot trust that test if they have environmental allergies, which after playing with his food for 8 months, I then learned that. Then I went in for an actually allergy panel (approx. $1200). They shave a 4" x 6" spot and prick their skin with 60 different allergens. That's how we learned what Joey was allergic to. I then had allergens made and had to give him shots every 10 days to subdue his itchies.

I would never trust a silly test from fur and saliva.

Thank you for posting your vet's reponse!! Out cat has been having allergy problems, and I was tempted to purchase this offer until I saw your response. Guess we'll just have to stick with the cortisone shots for now. Thanks again!!

So glad I found this forum. I almost bought it on Doggyloot and will not bother now.

I see a lot of you bought one back in August. The deal is back and I was hoping to get some good feedback on whether I should take advantage this time around. How did it work for everyone??? Thanks in advance!

I bought this on living social as well. I didn't hear my results after a month so I emailed them and they promptly sent my results. My cat is showing allergic to just about every meat - except beef, turkey and buffalo - plus potatoes, rice, etc - I finally found one food that seems to meet their list so I just ordered it to try. I wonder if most animals come back with this many allergens? My vet asked me to forward her the results as she is curious about this testing approach.

Not sure about this company. It took 6 weeks to get a kit,and then 3 weeks for processing. I kept getting excuses from them about being "backlogged"
Confusing results. Just states what animal tested "positive" for or has been exposed to. no reference to pork at all in any category. I've read many reviews. I'm not sure what to believe.

I too tried this company through Living Social. I just got results back today and am not confident that they are right. Through an elimination diet, we have found that my dog is allergic to beef, chicken and sweet potato. These items are listed as safe foods for my dog. We haven't noticed any problems with peanut butter but this is listed as an allergy item.

I am curious - the people here who paid to have their vets allergy test their pets, why are you paying to have another test done by an internet company with no reputation? I can't imagine paying an internet based company to run an allergy test after having paid hundreds of dollars to have a vet run allergy tests. It doesn't make sense to me and I'm just wondering who is posting some of the positive statements I am seeing on this board.

Not meaning to offend, I just don't get it.

I had this test done on my dog and he also came back with a ton of allergies, but i am not surprised. we had already eliminated chicken, and his signs improved but didn't resolve. he is on a salmon-based diet and salmon showed up on the bad list. we are going to try a hydrolyzed protein diet, then switch him to turkey.

i was looking at the hemopet.com website that someone suggested. that is also a saliva-based test, although they quantify results. would be interested to compare the two, although i'm not sure i want to spend almost $300.

This company is a COMPLETE SCAM! I ran an allergy test on my little girl and it was TERRIBLE....she's allergic or has high levels of basically EVERYTHING. It doesn't help me figure out what is causing her to lick at her paws in the least. I ordered a shampoo / conditioner in early August and in November I'm still waiting for them to arrive and keep being told that things shipped out 2 weeks ago.....only I NEVER get anything but a run around. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY with this company....they will take it and leave you with nothing but questions.

I hate to say it....but it feels like some of the more "positive" reviews aren't real reviews. As mentioned above, why on earth would you buy a $37 dollar test after you have already tested with your vet? I will agree with the poster above that these reviews do not feel real to me.
