bikini with kids?

Wear dental floss when you're on your own time. Your prerogative. But while working and taking care of a child? Wear a one piece with a cover-up. You're there to focus on the kid, not getting a date. I'm a SAHM who is very attractive. Pretty hot in a bikini too. I do not want the attention when I'm out during the day with my kids alone. Guys smirking, etc... takes the focus off of my children.

Should I openly ask the mother this question? My bikinis are two piece but not skimpy, but I am shopping around for a one piece to alternate if not solely wear the one piece. What are water shorts by the way?? I would feel fine wearing my bikinis taking the kids to the pool alone but what if and when the parents join me should I wear a one piece? I would feel fine wearing them in front of mom, assuming she isn't a jealous person (i doubt she is). But if its me kids and dad that could be awkward... I'm not sure if I'm overanalizing the entire situation, just trying to find a solution before the pools day start!

Get the jealous out of your mind...no one cares. What people care about is you teaching their children that women are sex objects. I don't want my son seeing women as meat. I don't want my daughter thinking she is meat so she has to dress that way. And I personally don't want to be distracted by you flopping around, and neither does my husband. Grow the hell up. No one is jealous of your lack of discretion.

LMAO You can think all you want but I bet your husband thinks otherwise. Probably loves the distraction from the hag...I mean nag....of a wife.

You should get rid of the whore mentality. It is bad for women. All women are not scheming whores but women like you don't help. All men are not disrespectful horn dogs and some do try and control lustful urges.

A little feminism 101.

Sex shaming is not how feminism works, that's how catty women think feminism works. You must have some real hang ups to think a woman who wears a bikini is "slutty".
I am not a feminist. Feminism is repulsive. I do however support women being treated with respect and not being seen as sex objects. Women are not sex objects, but you can't have it both ways. Either you want to be respected as a human being, or you don't.

You should be ashamed of being a slut, that is not a virtue. Sex is for the bedroom or your private kitchen, not for public areas and certainly it is not to be used to manipulate or as a one up over another woman. Get a life and a brain.

Are you the same woman who finds locker rooms repulsive? Why do you think women should be treated with respect if "feminism" - the idea that women should be treated with the same respect afforded to men - is repulsive? I don't think you know what feminism means.

NP here. I don't like bikinis (on anyone) but hang out with many people who do (like my SILs). I would prefer that my nanny dress more modestly, but as long as the suit were sturdy enough to roughhouse in the water and on the sand with my two boys, I probably wouldn't comment.

If you're considering a new suit, check out Lands End. They have systems that work together: bikini top with camisole, bottoms with water shorts, etc. They're meant to be layered and would give you options.

What about locker rooms?

I know what feminism is, and it is ugly. Men and women are equal, but they are not the same. Modern feminism does not allow for this distinction. Feminism sounds nice but it has a dirty agenda that is reprehensible.

This thread is insane. How do you crazy women go to the pool in the summer? Hissing infidel under your breath?? Wow. From the crazy feminism is repulsive lady -- hope you don't have daughters btw, shudder -- to the insanely hot in her own opinion sahm, there are just wild body and sexuality image and identity issues expressed here. It must be so nuts to actually feel this way. Bodies are bodies. We all have one. Creating all these bizarre stigmas and holding these firm opinions is what creates sex shaming. It's a social construct. I'd try to protect your kids.

Anonymous wrote:OP, there are tons of nannies at our pool and I haven't seen any of them wear anything but a bikini. There is one particular nanny at our pool who I WISH would wear a one piece, but it's because she makes me long for the days when my butt looked that good without a herculean effort from spanx. Of course my husband says he has never noticed her. (I wonder if my husband knows PP's husband, who "does not want to be distracted by bikinis!?") LOL (hello obvious troll...)

I think if you are going to be around the family, take your cue from mom. If she is covered up, you should probably not be more revealing, just because that might be weird for the family / employee dynamic. But if mom is in a bikini, go ahead. When you are at the pool on your own time, I think your wardrobe is up to you. In that case, take your cue from the other people at the pool. I'd wear your bikini with a tank over it the first day, and if everyone else at the pool is wearing tanks or one-pieces, then you know you've landed at a conservative place; and you might want to invest in a simple tank suit.

Your husband is lying!!! I am a red blooded male, and I notice all sorts of other women besides my DW all the time. I even comment on it to her! I basically call it window shopping. I can look, but I am not buying!

Yeah, no shit, sherlock! I was making a joke as was he when he batted his eyes and said he hadn't noticed.

I am about to do you a huge favor and keep you from embarrassing yourself any further - feminism does *not* mean that men and women are identical! It truly means that we should be respected equally. So there, now you can stop going off on feminists and our "dirty agenda" of pay parity, stopping violence against women, etc. You're welcome!

Your opinion is irrelevant in the face of facts. Look, I used to think I was a feminist until I actually read a few books. You should try it sometime. Turn off the TV, shut off the Spypad, and read a book. Then come back and we can talk.

Which books? Maybe you can read a few of my books, I can read some of yours, and we can get together for coffee to discuss. Maybe I will also stop thinking that women and men deserve both deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

As a youngish mom, I wouldn't mind if my nanny wore a bikini, as long as it wasn't seriously skimpy. I wear both one pieces and bikinis and feel ok in them, so my nanny should wear what she feels comfortable in too. However, I think this all really depends on your employer. What does she wear? How old is she? Is there even a chance that this might make her feel uncomfortable? If so, I think a tankini is your safest bet.

Are you serious? "No woman should EVER wear a bikini" Please...

I wear bikinis all summer. But when I was working as a nanny and now as a mother, I always throw a t-shirt on over my bikini since you have to bend over so often to pick up little ones and bikini tops are not known for keeping everything in place.

I wish I looked good in a bikini because I would proudly wear one with my 2 kids. Instead I wear sporty shorts and a tankini top. They are comfortable for chasing little ones. But if you can wear in a bikini then go for it. Swim shorts with pockets may be useful if you are working though.
