bikini with kids?

I'd think a sporty ish bikini is fine. A string one just isn't practical - if you don't own any that give more coverage, I'd get one.

it boggles my mind that there are people who object to wearing bikinis . . . at a pool. agree a really skimpy string bikini would be impractical with the babe around grabbing everything but wouldn't think twice about anything else. but i guess the answer depends on your employers - who could be as mind-boggling as some of the previous posters. Just ask them if they mind - I don't think it's an inappropriate question.

Ha! I think about a third of the moms at our summer pool wear bikinis. I'm sure you look better in them than most and should wear what you want.

BTW- A male friend has espoused a theory that of the bikini-sporting moms about 50% are showing off their 10K set of boobs.

Seriously, wear the bikini. Some of these comments are ridiculous. It's a bathing suit at the POOL. To think that she even has to ask this question is sad...wear what you want and if someone has a problem with it, they have issues.

Just because you became a fat cow doesn't mean you should get all nasty with your response. This was not appropriate.

Agreed, totally inappropriate. What is so wrong about wearing a bikini?? If you don't like it, don't wear one, but stop judging others! So annoying!

Hahahahhaha. Seriously. PP must be the jealous psycho type.

What is not appropriate is walking around in your underwear. I don't care if you are fat, thin, a body builder, or whatever....it is obscene to prance around not wearing any clothes. This is not Whoreland. Strive to be a decent American. I am not jealous of those who choose to do such things, I pity you and your lack of class.

A decent American? Whoreland? Bwahahaha. Please don't ever go to something called a BEACH. You'd probably lose your mind with all the indecent Americans.

But there are plenty of tank suits that expose boobs just as well, or bum, which is why I don't understand the controversy...the main difference, isn't it, is that a tank suit covers up the belly and back, which-- at least from what I've been teaching my kids, and correct me if I'm wrong-- are not considered private parts.

The anti bikini nut always shows up in the fashion forum. She HATES bikinis. As for myself, as long as I look good in one, and I do, that's what I'll be wearing. The one pieces can wait til I'm old!

When you're old, why not go au naturale? Or just topless? Be bold like the ladies of foreign lands. Nobody cares what you look like when you get old.

I'm also a nanny and I always wear bikinis. I make sure they're not string and have sturdy straps and everything is held in, but I've honestly never had any issues with any mishaps. I've found I'm not able to move as well in either one pieces or skirted suits, either because I'm uncomfortable, or in the case of skirted bottoms, they have so much extra fabric that I can't move as fast.

When watching kids at the pool I think it's pretty important that I'm at my most comfortable (whatever that may mean for the individual) so that I'm not worried about myself when watching the kids.

Omg it's the bikini hater! Seriously, how does she find all the bikini threads and jump on them right away?!
So funny!
Yes OP, wear the bikini, I had no idea it would even be an issue.
Except with the bikini hater

I think for function you are better off in a one piece, because kids are always pulling on straps and running around and a one piece gives a bit more security that it will stay in place, in particular the top. You don't want to have to make a split second decision to keep your top on vs to keep a hold of a wiggling kid in a pool. You can still look cute in a one piece and target has some affordable ones that look nice.

I'm an MB, and I would have no problem with a nanny or au pair wearing a bikini to the pool with my kids. The only issue I would have is if the bikini bottom were a thong or g-string. Other than that, she should wear what she wants.
