| I'm a nanny and have been full time with the family for almost a year, this summer they want me to take the 19 month old girl to pool. What swimsuit should I wear? I own only bikinis. Should I buy a one piece for when I'm working? What is deemed appropriate when working, I'm 26 so I'm young and its acceptable that I wear a two piece? Other nannies what do yall do and parents what would you want your nanny wearing?? |
| Anyone who would let someone other than then take their non swimming toddler to a pool probably doesn't care what you wear. |
| That should say other than themselves |

I'm a nanny.
I would snot wear a bikini. I would wear a one piece, and water shorts. |
+1. |
| My 19 month old is always clawing at me and I'm constantly chasing after her. Those things are awkward to do in a bikini - I am also young and look good in a bikini, but much prefer a one-piece (and often shorts) when I'm at the pool with her. |
| Have some decency and professionalism. No woman should EVER wear a bikini, but to wear one on the job....what kind of exhibitionist are you? Who prances around in their underwear while working? Be a lady, you 26 years old not 26 months. |

Whatever swimsuit you want to wear is absolutely fine, assuming it is practical (i.e. no string bikini is going to hold up to a 19-month-old grabbing at it) for the purpose of your outing. If it covers up the essential parts and you wouldn't hesitate to wear it at the pool when you're alone, don't worry about it.
Some jealous people might suggest you shouldn't, but really, you're fine. Check out this (admittedly British) thread about the same question: http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/childminders_nannies_au_pairs_etc/a1715622-How-would-you-feel-about-a-nanny-wearing-a-bikini |
| You are more than welcome to come to our neighborhood pool! |
*Ugh, not. |

Yeah, bikini on the job is a no no, but bikini in general? If you got it, flaunt it. |
| I take my 14mo charge to the pool once a week for swim lessons. I wear a bikini - pink polka dots on top and black string bottoms. The only thing is that I looked for a suit with pretty good coverage up top and thicker straps, to avoid any mishaps. If you got it, flaunt it! |

i was a lifeguard for years at a country club that was full of nannies during the day. they wore bikinis and i dont think anyone thought twice about it. i wouldnt wear the tiniest bikini you can find but you arent going to stand out wearing a bikini at a pool, its pretty standard attire.

Just because you became a fat cow doesn't mean you should get all nasty with your response. This was not appropriate. |
