Hilarious!! Arlington proud. |
| Hey Arlington, you're so cool! What with your Whole Foods and your Apple Store!!! I just wish we had those ...... oh wait ......... |
You realize that is a pretty fucking hilarious parody. It is making fun of itself. God- get a sense of humor. |
As the other poster always says... 2009 called and wants their youtube video back... |
It makes fun of the Mall. Isn't that what Tysons loves to do? I didn't know 2013 was about boring white ladies touring car parks. Mosaic District- you are so cutting edge. We are all so immature in A-town. |
That's undermined, I'm afraid, by your obsessive commenting on these threads, when you could be out enjoying one of your six craptastic "urban villages." And please spare us the mock condescension. No one in Arlington outside of the Pentagon is a player. |
A-town = A-hole town |
Remy grew up in McLean. Arlington seems to have the market cornered in perky (Sandra Bullock, Katie Couric). |
Lauren Graham too . Warren Beatty was W-L grad. All very perky people.

I'm alternatively surprised and ashamed of you people, grown women engaging in a stupid pissing match. There is no city cool-dom Olympics underway that anyone has to win. DC is great for those who love it. Arlington is great for those who love it. Tysons is great for those who love it. There's room for everyone out there, and there is no one - no one - giving out medals to some mythical "best place to live." There is no one single best place to live. Do what works for you.
For what it's worth, I live in Pimmit Hills. I think development in Tysons is great for people like us who live nearby. I'm sure my house value will go up and there will be more places and things to do in the immediate proximity. With all that said, new Tysons (when it materializes) will never replace Arlington as a close-in, established, affluent suburb close to DC. Arlington will stay what it is. DC will stay what it is, always desirable for things that it has. No one is competing with anyone and no one is taking anything away from anyone. People who want to live in Arlington will always choose to live there if they can afford it. The same is true about DC. Stop this nonsense of "I'm the coolest nya nyah." |
I'm the coolest. |
wrong, I am coolier |
My point exactly - if you live in Tysons, you don't have to drive several miles for basic needs. Everything on the planet is here. DC doesn't have sh*t there - it's like a 2nd world country. Even Arlington has very little stores, although bars are plentiful there. That was great for my late 20s. |
I am not PP but I too was a bit mystified by your comment. Residential neighborhoods around Tyson's are certainly car-dependent, but it would be wrong to say that residents there have to drive "miles" for basic needs. I live in 22043 and I'm hard-pressed to think of any basic needs more than 3 miles away. Some are in walking distance (not many but some). I think the original point was that even though stores may be in walking distance, few people would actually choose to walk back and forth with a week's worth of groceries. My nearest Safeway is a 7-minute walk away, but I wouldn't walk there unless it's just "for fun" walk. Who wants to lug groceries all the way back when driving is easier and takes 120 seconds? |
My family has been here for generations. And I do not know 1 single person with a job downtown ("the district" or "in DC" for all you migrant peoples) except 1) fed government employees, 2) lobbyists, and 3) lawyers. All other professional jobs are almost entirely NOT in DC. Everybody else I know with a job in the entire DC area either works in Tysons Corner, Herndon/Reston, the 270 corridor (health care), and I know 1 single person with a job in Arlington. And I am from Takoma Park btw. |
