As someone else pointed out, it really isn't the current seniors who are in the most jeopardy. Even if Romney-Ryan get in and can enact their changes, the changes to SS and Medicare will take at least a decade before benefits changes significantly for current recipients. However, the ones who are going to be affected the most will be the soon-to-be-retired or the newly retired...who are they? BABY-BOOMERS. So you have the single largest demographic group that is heading into their retirement, looking at augmenting their somewhat depleted 401Ks and other pension plans with SS benefits, and they are now looking at a candidate that is likely to strip their benefits. I think Romney-Ryan is going to bomb with the Boomers. And I think that only the staunchest, most conservative Boomers are going to vote for this ticket. Wish so many Boomers likely to be living into their 80's and 90's and needing at least 20-40 years of SSN and Medicare, I don't think they'll want to vote for possibly stripping their retirement benefits. |
and they won ![]() |
Boomers destroyed america and created the pipe dream called retirement. I wouldn't be surprised if they would cut out the throats of their grand children to support there selfish entailment and self indulgent attitudes. |
Retirement was created in the 1930', and that predates the boomers because they weren't old enough to vote. We have been over this before. Are you impervious to facts or just like saying things you know are not true? |
Another one of those who don't let facts get in the way of a good argument. CSRS (the federal Civil Service Retirement Service plan) was created in 1920. Social Security was created in 1935 and Medicaid in 1965. The Boomers (no, I am not one of them) were born from 1950 to 1964. They didn't create retirement. The concept of retirement and pension plans became popular in WWII, again, before the Boomers time--signfiicantly. While the Boomers may have found ways to maximize retirement benefits, retirement was already around before they were born. |
One Term = No Love |
Are you a fan of the Kennedy family politicians? Do you include them in these types of statements? Re "Dubya," he graduated from Yale, one of the exalted Ivys. Or do you think Yale accepts poorly qualified students and then just hands out degrees to those who "don't seem very intelligent?" |
I think Yale has affirmative action for wealthy donors who have mediocre kids. I don't think Dubya would have made it into Yale had he gone to BCC and his dad worked for the Federal Government. Think about how many kids from TJ, Blair or other magnets don't get into Yale, then consider that Debya did. |
I guess his dad did work for the Federal Government, but I meant was career civil service. |
Hopefully Like obama or else america is finished |
Get used to disappointment. I hear you can get dual citizenship in Mexico. |
I think that there is no rule that says I have to like every graduate of an Ivy League school. And yes, Yale admits a lot of legacies. So no, a degree from Yale does not guarantee intelligence, especially when your grades look like this: http://2004.georgewbush.org/bios/yale-transcript.asp Ouch!!! |
Government teat = Ryan welfare buck, living off social security Paying no taxes, minuscule amount = Romney Wow I see your point. I guess you will be voting for Obama. Unless you don't belief what you state. |
I get it; it's just that many posters on this forum act as if getting into/graduating from an Ivy indicates a high level of intelligence. Not necessarily, although by no means do I think George Bush is stupid. I bet that if he were tested, his nonverbal/math skills are higher than verbal. Not an attorney type. |
Will you please post President Obama's transcript for comparison? Thanks! |
