Mitt Picks Ryan, I Guess

I disagree 100%.

Health care is a public good and access to it should not be controlled by companies that operate for profit and think their fiduciary duty to shareholders trumps their moral duty to patients.

Vouchers for the elderly is a stupid idea. What private insurer wants to cover the aged? Telling people "here's a voucher, go buy your own insurance" when those people are in their 80s won't work because no company will want to insure someone in their 80s.

As for retirement, government's involvement has spared several generations of seniors from poverty. That's a good thing. Social Security was probably the best public policy ever. The problem is too may people don't understand it's only intended to be one leg of a stool for your retirement.

As for disability, shame on you for suggesting the disabled should be left without a safety net.

If you don't like government, there are a few places where you can live and experience your utopia. Start with Somalia. Not much government there. I hear you can find beachfront property near Mogadishu for cheap.

Wow I guess we will be having that debate about the economy LOL! I heard Obama's plan was to tie Mitt to the house republican and Ryan's budget. How, oh how, will he do this?

Yes, better that other taxpayers pay it.

It is, actually. Getting sick isn't like being a bank that needs a bailout.

That's a pretty interesting theory actually.

Fast forward to Election Day 2016. Paul Ryan, 49, is the nominee against Hillary Clinton, 69.

From an optics standpoint that looks like Obama vs. Walnuts in 2008.

Of course, there would be that first female president thing.

A pick that shows he is serious about the economy.

+1. And someone needs to be. Thank goodness.

While all these programs mean well they are very inefficient and don't end up meeting their end goals.

Despite the disabled , do you have such little faith in the abilities of all americans to do anything for themselves that massive government programs must be forced on to be used by all citizens?

It's hilarious that democrats are thrilled about the Ryan pick because now they think the campaign will be all about the Ryan Plan. However, no one seems to have noticed that he, at least, has a plan, as opposed to Obama. Obama has nothing but unfunded Obamacare that the majority of Americans hate (as recent polls show) and an economy that completely is in the toilet and no Obama Plan for getting it out of there. Ryan will be able clearly articluate his vision and when there's no other plan to compare it to or better altenative on the table, they will recognize that reasonable reforms are essential to getting the economy back on track.

I don't know how Mitt could win. Out of touch. He was born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Of course, Dubya was the same way, inarticulate and didn't seem very intelligent. I guess anything is possible in America.

Ryan has a plan, but Romney is distancing himself from it. Romney doesn't have a plan. So, do you have a "Plan B".

Obama has been desperately trying to link Romney to the Ryan plan and Romney handed Obama the election with his pick. Two words: Land-slide.

If you are a loser and sucking off the government teat you will not want leaders that promote working hard, earning a living and reaping the rewards of success. Our country was built on capitalism not socialism. When 50% of the country pays no income tax and they are asked to put in a minuscule amount why would anyone have a problem with that? Why make it comfortable to be poor and push people to better themselves? If you raise taxes on the job creators the lower income earners will have no jobs.

No, they oppose Plan B on religious grounds.

WTF is the point in picking Ryan is they aren't going with his plan? Do they think his steely blue eyes will get them votes?

The Republican candidates:

Mitt Romney -- not running on RomneyCare
Paul Ryan -- not running on Ryan Plan
