Mitt Picks Ryan, I Guess

Anonymous
I think they would have rather pulled someone who did more for the electoral math or maybe with the Hispanic vote. But at least he's not a Palin. They will be stuck with the Ryan plan now, though. Romney has gone a long way without being specific but now he is committed. The Medicare provision is going to kill him in Florida.

I think he's toast. Rubio or Martinez would have possibly given him a shot, but not Ryan.

Clap clap clap from this Democrat!

It's official now. The Romney app just announced Ryan is the VP choice. In a brilliant display of campaign strategy, Romney made the announcement when it was 4 am on the west coast. Expect to hear a lot about Medicare between now and November.

Seems like a weird pick to me. Pandering to conservatives?

I do think this will shift of the focus of the remaining campaign off of Obama's handling of the economy and onto a referendum, if you will, of the Ryan budget. particularly draconian cuts to Medicare. Not going to go down well with the old people in Florida is my guess.

A pick that shows he is serious about the economy.

I think it was largely process of elimination. Rubio had huge negatives even among hispanics. They don't have any obvious women to go to. And the idea of a VP that doesn't upstage Romney (pawlenty, etc.) just seemed like not enough with a candidate in this situation. People need a reason to believe in Romney and his ideas. They think they have bought some ideas here.

We have already tried this experiment and checked the diversity box by electing Obama. We can all feel good we elected a minority as president but let's move forward and heal the economy. We need to elect someone with the experience to make jobs and get the economy moving again.

Good, bad, or otherwise, I think it's going to generate a lot of heated discussion about Obama's handling of the economy/budget as well as Romney's/Ryan's proposals. Will be interesting to see the direction voters truly want. Do people really want to see the steep cuts made that are necessary to reduce expenses?

This guarantees Florida goes to Obama. Four more years!

I really don't think Ryan is all that photogenic. Anyone?

I am thrilled..great pick!!

Yep, landslide Obama. Romney's been pilloried for not being specific about his plans. Ryan has a finely tuned plan -- only it won't fly with anyone.

Well, at least no one will be surprised about what the republicans will do if elected.
