For anyone still monitoring this post - I just saw on Gap today that they are selling color gray size XXL of the string bikini underwear. These are my all time favorites and I still cannot believe they discontinued them! Unfortunately I am not a size XXL but for those who are better stock up on what seems to be the last inventory of them!

You Can still buy old school VS panties new on ebay, if you know how to search for them you can find them sometimes for a reasonable price

Gap has stopped all it’s 100% cotton bikinis in general! It’s sooooo hard to find a decent set of undies. Nothing at Target worked (bought many packages and tried them). I found a barely livable solution at Hanes (one type of all cottons there). The Hanes cottons are very thin and don’t do the bottom coverage as well as they should - loose leg openings, but they have stayed me for a bit. Got a puppy and she chewed through my beloved Gaps before I knew they were discontinued!! ACK. Any one else find a replacement? Jockeys were too tight in the leg.

Anonymous wrote:I used to swear by the old Victoria's Secret 100% cotton bikini panties, but they've changed the style, fit, fabric, and overall quality in the past few years. They are basically junk now and fall apart and get holes very quickly. Looking to replace mine with something comparable to the old style (if anyone remembers them). I just want plain, simple cotton panties. I've tried Hanes, thinking they'd be great, but there is a thick band at the top that cuts right into my c-section incision that is still sore from time to time (9 months postpartum!) I've also tried Gap cotton bikinis, but they seem to run really small and I'm not sure that I love them.

Any great recommendations?

What did you decide on? Can't believe I found a thread on the same problem I am having: finding comfortable undies to replace my good old Victoria Secret's that are no longer made!

I'm with the lady who said she could have written this post herself. I am so mad at VS, that I won't even set foot in there anymore! I am loving all these suggestions and going to try some!

I grew frustrated with the ever-shrinking VS bikini panties about 4 years ago and ditched them in favor of the GapBody bikini, but now those TOO have declined in quality. The ones I bought less than a year ago are falling apart, and the new GapBody pairs available online are not 100% cotton and come in boring solid colors. If you look at the product reviews for their classic (now called "high cut") bikini, you'll see that there are 135 comments, almost all of which are from women like us who are bitching about the fact that Gap changed their favorite underwear: http://www.gap.com/browse/product.do?vid=1&pid=153599002. There is STRENGTH IN NUMBERS, ladies!! Everyone should complain to the company that replaced their faves. If enough of us scream loudly enough perhaps they'll all revert back to the styles we know and love.

Glad to read this. I used to LOVE gap body underwear, but the last couple of batches I bought have just not worked. Such a bummer.

I have loved UNIQLOs bikinis for years. They never give me wedgies and hold up really well. No local store but you can order them from their website.

came upon this thread for the same reason as many others and the original poster of this thread. I have always LOVED the 100% cotton bikinis at VS and the last few years it seems like I randomly get holes in them for no reason and stitching comes loose, etc. They used to be the ones I swore by telling others they lasted forever. Not anymore. Am sick of spending $ on underwear I have to replace very 3 months. Off to find some new after reading this thread

Thank you so much for posting about this! It has been driving me crazy for YEARS. I tried several of the suggestions from this thread and wrote about it here:
