Boo hoo. |

Dear AU Park Curmudgeon:
There is an ordinance which defines the acceptable use of lawn mowers, and your neighbor was complying with it. 2704.6 The use or operation of portable power tools, home snow removal equipment, power garden excluding leaf blowers devices, and other powered equipment for minor repairs or minor improvements of real or personal residential property shall be exempt on weekdays (excluding Saturdays) during the daytime and from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Saturdays, Sundays, and legal holidays. |
This is almost funny. OP, you really don't get it. You're the selfish one, thinking your neighbor has to worry about infringing on you while doing her daily activities at a reasonable hour. Get some noise canceling headphones. |
[Channeling OP]: "But it's discourteous! I wanted to sleep late! Even though it's legal, they shouldn't do it, you boorish lout!" It's a curious case of selfishness (my neighbors should behave in the manner I prefer), combined with disconnect from reality (that it's typical for people to sleep past 9:00) and self-righteousness (they are so rude!) Makes me glad I live next to public housing - the people who live there are so much more reasonable than they appear to be in AU park. |
| If you want them to cut the grass later, how about asking nicely whether this would be possible instead of posting about it on an anonymous message board. |
| Yeah, I can see complaining about 7 or 8 a.m. but I think 9 isn't that unreasonable. We usually hear kids or birds long before 9 a.m. Another tip: ear plugs. |
I can just imagine what your home and yard look like!
|
I know this must be hard for above PP, OP, et al, to understand that you are not the center of the universe. You live where there are houses close to you and they get to decide if they want to mow their lawn, let their dogs out, or even let their toddlers scream (although on this I agree with you). If you don't like it then move someplace where your nearest neighbor is a mile away. Also, find a real problem. |
|
9:00 a.m. on a Sat. or Sun. is fine in my book.

last post should have read in its entirety:
LOL ... 100 dB? INSIDE your house? or even in YOUR yard? I hardly think so ... get over yourself.
|
I'm sure the OP will be along momentarily to tell us how wrong that ordinance is, LOL
|
| S/he was kind enough to wait until after 9am. It's fine. Go out, enjoy the day and forget about this. |
OP in front of her AU Park house. Mowing has yet to begin at OP's house as it's still napping hours per OP's schedule.
|
OP, I'm with you. I hope you're not still reading this thread, though, as I only read it myself to see where the crazy train went.
