What is the most extravagent vacation you have ever taken?

We did two weeks in Kenya and Tanzania back in 2000. We didn't have kids then. I'm not the $25K poster. We stayed mostly in luxury permanent tented camps and did a mix of private guides, charter planes and commercial planes to get around to the various camps. We hope to take the kids in about 8 years when the littlest one is old enough, but we are really afraid the animal population will be much smaller then. It was the second safari my husband had been on (my first), and he said when we went he was shocked at the change and the greater tourism in the ten years since he had been by himself.

For us six weeks was the time between the bar exam and starting at a law firm. We could choose our start dates. Now that I think about it I guess it was incredibly extravagant because we each gave up $2400/week salary for four of the weeks (assuming a normal honeymoon is 2 weeks). But it was worth it. One of the best experiences of my life.

My parents took care of the dog.

I went to ocean city for a week a few years ago. It was a great time, but very expensive.
