What is the most extravagent vacation you have ever taken?

| What is the most extravagent vacation you have ever taken? We tend to do things like a week at the beach, Caribbean cruise, etc.--but would love to do something extravagent sometime. |

| I was gonna say the Bahamas, but then I read that apparently a Caribbean cruise is not extravagant for you. Must be nice. |

| Stayed at the 4 seasons Georges Cinq in Paris France and then did London and stayed at the Waldorf. Lovely lovely! |

| Either a week on Oahu with our kids (hotel upgraded us to a 27th floor ocean front suite, no extra charge), or a trip through Japan: mainland by train, Tokyo, Kyoto, Himeji, Hiroshima, Osaka, Fukuoka, then flew to the Ryuku Islands, pre-kids. |

| My in laws paid for all three of their sons, plus spouses, to go to Iceland with them. We had our very own tour guide who drove us all the way around the island for 2 1/2 weeks. Because most of the population lives in Reykjavik, there aren't 4-star hotels out in the hinterlands--sometimes we slept in sleeping bags in lodges--but I'll never again be able to take a trip that costs as much as that one did. |

Three weeks in South Africa. The only extravagant part of it was the cost of the airline tickets-- we stayed with friends most of the time. But we also didn't stint on attractions (wildlife parks and wineries mostly) and nice restaurant meals.
That, and a week in Galapagos. Even taking the least expensive boat, it was still a very pricey (and priceless!) experience. I have never done a luxury vacation. If I have extra money, I'd rather spend it on time than on luxury. |

| Ooh, I would love to go to Iceland someday! I hear the hiking and the glaciers and the geothermal springs are amazing. But like you said... so expensive. |
