What is the most extravagent vacation you have ever taken?

| ^^also expensive vacay w/kids is never really a vacay for me. Little or no sex. Bickering over what to order on the menu--oldest always pushing not to order on the kids menu--DH is tired and depressed by kids bickering and I am too. We try to keep the vacays short and sweet. |

| Three weeks in New Zealand. Explored both islands and stayed in very nice places along the way. We also did every outing and activity that appealed to us, including sky diving, helicopter/hike on a glacier, and a number of guided hikes with naturalists. The trip was spectacular and worth every penny. (BTW, money goes quite far there compared to Europe). |

We just spent 10 days in Pacific Northwest. Longest and furthest trip we've done with kids. That felt extravagant to us. Memories I'll treasure.
I've done trips to Europe, Caribbean, Hawaii, etc, but this was really perfect for us. |

| 6 weeks touring through australia and new zealand. Included the great barrier reef, a private nature reserve for 2 days, climbing the Sydney harbor bridge and several exotic and adventure type things in new zealand |

We visit family when we go on vacation.
Occasionally, we've rented an on-base beach house in North Carolina--$200 for a week. Even when we lived on base, we'd do it before and after deployment. Nothing but the beach. My idea of a perfect vacation. Doing nothing but being together. Kids getting tired out in the sands and the waves. The stars shining so brightly at night. Thanking God for our family. That beach is still my happy place. |

| For those complaining about those posting about the cost of their trips on this thread, you know what extravagant means right? When I read the question i figured OP wanted to know most expensive, luxurious, time consuming or far flung. I am envious of the person who got to go to Africa on 25k too...but I'd still love to hear more about the trip. That's what this thread is about--extravagant trips. |

How long was the trip and how many people were on the $25k trip? Bermuda, for instance, easily runs $1,000 for 2 -- per day-- at a nice hotel! (not including airfare or taxis to get around) |
