“Radical Left” is not a thing - MAGA has been duped

I agree. There are no radical democrats. Maybe some other third party, sure.
But maga will continue to claim that there is. Whatever.

It's all projection. Maga cries about the "radical left" while pursuing their own extremist agenda. Maga includes the right, conservatives, republicans, etc.

Wow, OP.
You’ve got a selective memory.

Yes, there is a radical left, and not only does it exist, but it has a hold on democrats.

Remember Biden’s work redefining sex as gender identity? I do.
If that’s not radical leftism at work, I don’t know what is.
And that’s one example. I could sit here and write all day but I have stuff to do.

This is one of my favorite examples because it reveals a total lack of principles. For YEARS we were told that sex and gender were distinct concepts and that a person could be both a woman and biologically male. And then at some point in 2024, the Biden administration decided that the word “sex” in Title IX actually included gender identity. Absolutely insane.

As usual, it is a RWNJ bringing ip the “trans movement” and pretending that it is all the left ever talks about. Lol

PP listed three issues, so I'm not sure how you can say that they believe that trans issues are all the left ever talks about.

Besides the “stolen” 2020 election, the “Radical Left” is the other big lie. The overwhelming majority of democrats are basically centrists. It’s not radical to want affordable healthcare for all Americans, reasonable gun control, treat immigrants humanly even while deporting illegal immigrants, treat non-white, non-Christian, non-straight, non-male people with dignity and equality, not murder American citizens who are protesting, expect billionaires to pay their taxes, expect Epstein’s pedo ring to be released, expect global diplomacy and no wars, affordability, etc. These are things Trump has made MAGA believe are radical and un-American. He is a master at propaganda, I’ll give him that.

However, the right is indeed radical, with Project 2025 and horrific concentration camps, destroying our global reputation, destroying public health systems, stripping affordable healthcare destroying public education, waging wars, letting prices soar while building golden ballrooms and Trump enriching himself and building monuments to himself. We are a laughing stock to the rest of the world. Yet somehow our own citizens are sadly duped.

Decades down the road, in hindsight, it will be shameful and inconceivable. Similar to that other period of time in that other country with that other evil guy we’re not allowed to mention.

In decades to come, the extremism of both sides will be recognized. The left is on the wrong side of history for many issues. Of course, MAGA is too. But this is not a period of time where the left will be seen as a force for good, overall.

Pro choice
Pro healthcare
Pro positive economic growth
anti-fascism
pro civil rights for all

Ya, these are horrible and on the wrong side of history.

Shrug. Not my fault if you aren’t capable of thinking.

Let’s pick one idea from the left: shutting down schools for two years at the behest of the teachers’ unions. We know now that was disastrous and did not save lives. This is not going to be remembered kindly.

Of course MAGA has their own bad ideas that will not survive the harsh view of history. But to pretend the left doesn’t have their own share is silly.

What schools did democrats shut down for 2 years? My classroom shut down in March, ALONG WITH CLASSROOMS AROUND THE ENTIRE WORLD! Kids were back in the classroom in November, in a hybrid setting (which they actually loved). In January, we returned to all in-person. This was a pretty common sequence of events. What schools did democrats shut down for 2 years? Please be specific.

They say its all we talk about, but even mention it in a list and you'll get 10+ foaming responses.

If you didn’t love your kids enough to keep them reading during a pandemic that killed several people I know of, including a physician and a grandmother who contracted it IN the hospital, that’s your own sin.

Grownups do not point back to 2020 and say that ruined them. That’s what a child would do. If you got a divorce or a demotion or a child of yours is no longer close to you, you most certainly had a hand in it. Enough.

Maybe they refused the covid vaccine and got fired from a job. That could cause all sorts of cascading problems for people. Have we forgotten that event already?

They should have gotten the vaccine. They can't figure that out, they really aren't an employable adult.

This post is laughably ironic, sitting near the recently-created “Happy Antifa Day!” thread.

I like how this has turned into a Greatest Hits of the Radical Left compendium.

We need threads like this every 6 months lest people start forgetting.

What are you talking about? Classrooms were not shut down for 2 years. We were shut down from March 2020 (when Trump was President) through about December and then hybrid and then back full time by April 2021 (when Biden was president).

You’re a nut job who blindly believes propaganda. Also, schools were not performing gender surgery on kids without their parents knowing. Also immigrants were not eating neighborhood cats. Do you also think the earth is flat?

Here’s where the left loses me:

You want human rights and dignity for all people except for the ones in the womb.

And I say this as someone who won’t belong to either party. I don’t see how you get to claim the moral high ground.

I don't get how "pro lifers" get to claim any moral high ground. They demand every pregnancy be carried to term, even unviable fetuses, even children that were raped, even pregnancies that would cause the mother to die if carried to term, and the moment the child is born they completely turn their backs on them, they don't care if the baby goes without healthcare, without food, if the kid gets shot to death in their school, etc. "Pro life" is the biggest political hypocrisy ever.

New poster. I’m pro-life. Being pro-life means opposition to abortion. I’m opposed to abortion because abortion is a procedure that is designed to and does deliberately kill human life.

Are there edge cases where the rationale for an abortion looks more understandable? Sure. But that’s true in any policy judgment, and abortion is pretty much only the topic of conversation where its defenders act like that’s some deep insight. You can rightly say that America has too many guns or a gun violence problem, but no one would deny that there are marginal cases where a gun has been a useful tool to stop something bad. To take another example, there are people who violate a penal statute who get no punishment because they have a legally recognized excuse or justification. To take a third example, there are people who use distributionally unjust tax cuts to start a valuable business. Those situations are not some sort of “gotcha” that flips the terms of the debate; they’re just the reality that, in a huge country, you can usually find an anecdote that, if universalized, would support your policy preferences.

In general, the core point of dispute on abortion is whether it’s good or bad. The pro-choice side feels more uncomfortable calling it “good” than the pro-life side feels calling it “bad.” That is because it is mostly bad.

Edge cases? No. Most cases? Yes. Choosing an abortion as a “lifestyle choice” is not common. By lifestyle choice, I mean a healthy, stable, financially secure woman chooses to end a perfectly viable pregnancy just because she does not want to be a mother at that time. Most pregnancies are terminated for other reasons. You know this. But yes, it can be nuanced and complicated.

I just learned that a friend is pregnant and the fetus has a terminal condition. They are hoping the baby survives a few moments after birth. She is going to continue the pregnancy. Is this the decision I would make? Probably not, but I couldn’t say for sure since I don’t know how it feels to be in that position. Do I think she has every right to make that decision for herself rather than having that decision made by a bunch of rando politicians in DC? Absolutely. She made the decision with guidance from the people she chose - her partner, clergy, care team, and family. As it should be.

Why do YOU think politicians should be the ones to decide which abortions are “understandable” rather than the woman and her support system? Is it because you don’t trust women to make decisions?
