“Radical Left” is not a thing - MAGA has been duped

There will be shame bestowed on people who spewed hate and called people radical for wanting human rights and dignity for people other than white Christian straight men.

Besides the “stolen” 2020 election, the “Radical Left” is the other big lie. The overwhelming majority of democrats are basically centrists. It’s not radical to want affordable healthcare for all Americans, reasonable gun control, treat immigrants humanly even while deporting illegal immigrants, treat non-white, non-Christian, non-straight, non-male people with dignity and equality, not murder American citizens who are protesting, expect billionaires to pay their taxes, expect Epstein’s pedo ring to be released, expect global diplomacy and no wars, affordability, etc. These are things Trump has made MAGA believe are radical and un-American. He is a master at propaganda, I’ll give him that.

However, the right is indeed radical, with Project 2025 and horrific concentration camps, destroying our global reputation, destroying public health systems, stripping affordable healthcare destroying public education, waging wars, letting prices soar while building golden ballrooms and Trump enriching himself and building monuments to himself. We are a laughing stock to the rest of the world. Yet somehow our own citizens are sadly duped.

Decades down the road, in hindsight, it will be shameful and inconceivable. Similar to that other period of time in that other country with that other evil guy we’re not allowed to mention.

In decades to come, the extremism of both sides will be recognized. The left is on the wrong side of history for many issues. Of course, MAGA is too. But this is not a period of time where the left will be seen as a force for good, overall.

OP is missing the point. The Democratic Party is not the radical left, although Trump likes to pretend like it is.

But it’s foolish to pretend like the radical left isn’t a thing. Spend 15 minutes on leftist social media and you’re inundated with idiotic ideas like prison abolition, eliminating immigration enforcement, and transwomen in all sex-segregated spaces. These non-mainstream ideas briefly gained bit a foothold with otherwise mainstream democrats in 2020 and 2021. And even though that has subsided, people haven’t forgotten. Look no further than James Talarico, who is being bludgeoned with some goofy left wing shit he said in 2020 and 2021.

Ya, these are horrible and on the wrong side of history.

LOL, citing social media of anonymous fandos to make your point isn't the flex you think it is. How do you know they aren't russian bots or MAGAs trolling?

Shrug. Not my fault if you aren’t capable of thinking.

Let’s pick one idea from the left: shutting down schools for two years at the behest of the teachers’ unions. We know now that was disastrous and did not save lives. This is not going to be remembered kindly.

Of course MAGA has their own bad ideas that will not survive the harsh view of history. But to pretend the left doesn’t have their own share is silly.

I’m not. I’m talking about creators with hundreds of thousands or millions of followers. Madeleine Pendleton, for example, has 1.6 million followers and her content is almost exclusively about communism. Christian Divyne has 700k followers and posts about all sorts of left wing stuff, including prison abolition. Enby Therapist has 150k followers and their content is heavy on helpful content such as “being a woman doesn’t make you an authority on feminism.” (That’s the topic of one of their recent videos.) I could list another ten creators with 100k+ followings who have similar content.

Blah blah. No one is disagreeing that MAGA is awful. But to completely ignore how tone deaf and belligerent progressives were during the Biden era - whether on school boards or local government or at the federal level - is just putting your head in the sand. Hopefully Democrats learned a few lessons. People care about schools, public safety, crime, jobs, illegal immigration, health care, and other kitchen table issues. And progressives during the Biden years didn't. These were not Bernie Sanders progressives. These were gender studies at Oberlin progressives. And most Americans didn't share their priorities. Thus, Democrats lost.

Shutting down schools wasn't a "left" thing and re-electing Trump wasn't a "right" thing. The people who did those things are the complete and utter idiots we all feel kinda sorry for.

But it doesn’t exist as a political force. It’s nowhere near as mainstream or dangerous as antivaxxers or 2020 election deniers or the J6ers. We’ve know. forever that the far right is dangerous, but the far left is a
microscopic percentage of democrats. The RNC just weaponized stupidity by getting people to believe that a small
Subset of people represent all democrats.

to believe that the fringe groups represent mai stream DNC.

Weird that enemies of the left were already preaching homeschooling and were undermining public schools long before COVID, but then when COVID hit and people had to keep their kids home and teaching was remote, they thought that was a disaster. It was no more of a disaster than what they were already preaching about what we should do with public schools.

This entire thread is ridiculous, as usual. The OP started it hoping to stir things up and pick the usual fights. Anyone with even a shred of common sense knows the far left is just as extremist and damaging as the far right.

PP here. I agree with most of what you said. That’s actually my point. There is a loud, terminally online and perpetually abrasive internet left, and the right has successfully convinced a lot of people that these internet leftists are the voice of the Democratic Party. They’re wrong, of course, but to pretend like there is no far left is foolish. It’s very real and it has been weaponized against mainstream liberals.
